Chapter 25: Father and Daughter Reunite

For the San Francisco Defense Force, being with Azazel was akin to having already won. Seeing Azazel now, the defense force captain stepped forward immediately. "We're honored by your presence today. What can we do for you? You have done so much for us!" "We owe you a tremendous debt of gratitude. Now that you're in San Francisco, whatever you need, just say the word! We will make it happen!" And so, without lifting a finger, Azazel secured the support of the San Francisco Defense Force. At dawn, Joseph arrived at the villa's entrance. Today, he wore the simplest casual outfit, looking just like an ordinary person. Remembering Lucy's fondness for hamburgers, he even brought breakfast for her. Lucy, who had woken up early with plans to talk to her grandfather without eating, was surprised to see Joseph standing at the door with hamburgers and coffee. Having not seen Joseph for a long time, Lucy was initially hesitant to move. She feared that if she did, Joseph would vanish like a mirage. "Joseph... you, you're here." Thinking back on the past, Lucy's face turned red. She had only ever been with one man in her life, and that was Joseph. After Joseph left, there was never anyone else... Before she could say more, they heard Tangna's voice from inside. "Mommy! Daddy! Where are you?" Hearing this, Lucy quickly turned and walked back inside. "I'm here, darling, I'm coming!" She opened the door and came out carrying Tangna. This child had been raised solely by Lucy. She always felt she wasn't a good mother, unable to provide Tangna with a normal family, so she doubled her efforts to be there for her. This is why Tangna always told her mother everything. "Tangna, you're awake?" Joseph was surprised to see Tangna up so early. "Tangna, did you sleep well last night?" He hadn't expected a girl of Tangna's age to be awake so early, not sleeping in. Hearing her father's voice, Tangna clung to her mother's neck and rushed over to Joseph. "Daddy! Hug me!" She spread her arms and demanded affection from Joseph. "Alright, alright! My little darling, Daddy will hug you!" Joseph squatted down and gently embraced Tangna. "Alright, let Daddy get up now. See, I'm getting old." "Daddy, you're not old at all. You still look as young as when you were dating Mommy!" Tangna said, rubbing her head against Joseph's face. "What are you talking about? How could you see Daddy when he was dating Mommy?" "I heard it from Mommy! She said my Daddy is a handsome man! And it turns out she was right!" Hearing Tangna's words, Joseph looked up at Lucy, whose face was now bright red. Feeling his daughter's warmth, Joseph's heart was deeply moved. "Okay, okay, let Mommy talk to me, okay?" Seeing Joseph pamper Tangna, Lucy could only smile and shake her head. Tangna obediently climbed down from her father's embrace and into her mother's arms. "Mommy, I love you!" Hearing this, Lucy hugged Tangna tightly. "I love you too, Tangna. Remember, you are our daughter." "Mm!" Tangna nodded. Now, Joseph turned to Lucy. "Lucy, after all these years, how have you been?" Lucy frowned slightly at this. "If I had been well, I wouldn't have been so despondent all these years." Hearing this, Joseph knew Lucy hadn't had it easy and quickly tried to comfort her. "Alright, let's not talk about the past. Let's sit down first." With that, Joseph led Tangna and Lucy to the dining area. Seeing the hamburgers and coffee, Lucy and Tangna began to eat breakfast. Before Joseph could say anything, Lucy spoke up. "Joseph, why did you come back? Aren't you afraid of the things that happened back then?" Lucy had pondered for days about how to face Joseph, but now she suddenly understood. Since Joseph had come back, no matter what happened, she would face it together with him. Seeing Joseph deep in thought, Lucy added, "Do you know why Tangna insisted on coming? She told me she didn't want to be away from you. She was afraid you'd leave her while she slept." Hearing this, Joseph felt immense pain. He resolved to repay Lucy and Tangna for the rest of his life! Before he could say more, they heard a noise outside. "Vroom—!" It was the sound of a car, barely functional, approaching. A black man leaned out of the car window. "Are you Lucy and Tangna?!" Seeing him, Lucy hesitated. "Who are you?" "We were sent by Fox to pick you up! Hurry and get in, don't waste my time!" Lucy was a bit reluctant. The car was so shabby that she felt she'd turn to trash just by sitting in it. But having a car was better than taking the subway with Tangna. Seeing Lucy didn't mind, Joseph was indifferent too. Joseph got into the car with Lucy, and as he fed Tangna, Lucy's eyes welled up with tears. "These years, I've felt so sorry for Tangna. I often forgot to cook for her. Thankfully, she didn't mind; otherwise, I'd have done so many bad things!" "Sigh, it's all my fault!" Joseph patted her shoulder. "It's not your fault. You've done well. Let's not dwell on the past. I'll be with you in the future." Lucy looked at Joseph, her heart fluttering. "Joseph... okay..." Soon, the old car brought them to Lucy's family home. Since it was Thor's birthday, the place was filled with Lucy's family members. Seeing Lucy, they all stared. When Joseph stepped out, her family was immediately infuriated. "Are you out of your mind?"
