Chapter 213: The Mysterious Benefactor

Everyone around was either dead or severely injured, except for the leader. Joseph slowly walked toward him, his steps steady and intimidating. The leader was terrified, retreating in fear, trying to distance himself from Joseph, but it was clear that there was no escaping this situation. Joseph's steps seemed rooted in place, unyielding. He calmly approached the leader, extending his hand, and with a gentle grip, he said, "Just tell me who sent you, and that'll be enough." The man was about to speak when something strange caught Joseph’s eye—a subtle movement, something controlling the man's mind from afar. Joseph immediately understood that someone was watching them. In the next moment, a sinister sound echoed nearby. Whoever was pulling the strings was about to make their move, but Joseph wasn't about to let them succeed. He quickly tightened his grip on the man's neck. A series of cracks followed, and then, with a loud "boom," the man exploded in a shower of blood, his entire body bursting apart. The scene was gruesome, blood splattering everywhere. It was a horrifying sight, yet no one felt awe—only a deep sense of dread. This man had just been obliterated in an instant. "Let’s go," Joseph said, lifting his gaze to the sky, his voice calm. He then turned and walked away with his subordinates, leaving the scene behind. The remaining enemies wouldn’t survive for long. This wasn’t the surprising part for Joseph, though. What caught him off guard was that the boss of these men had been monitoring them from nearby. Narrowing his eyes, Joseph murmured, "Let's leave for now. We're being watched, and we can't do anything under these circumstances." Beelzebub, one of his trusted aides, was anxious. "Boss, what do we do now? That guy was killed right under our noses! Isn’t this a slap in our face? I’m worried this is just the beginning—they might be planning something against us!" Joseph's expression darkened. There were many strange things in this world, but he had no idea who was behind this. His thoughts raced as he tried to make sense of it, but soon, he decided to put it aside for the moment. "Let's head back to the hotel," he said, knowing that they couldn’t worry too much about what had just happened. But he had a hunch that whoever was behind this would soon regret it. Though they hadn’t uncovered the identity of the organization, this trip wasn’t in vain. They had stirred things up, and now someone was clearly keeping tabs on them. Joseph suspected it might be someone from Longrich, the person behind the problematic chips provided by the European and English Group. Joseph voiced his suspicions. "I think it's likely Longrich, the one from the European and English Group who provided us with those faulty chips." He explained to his team how the devices implanted in them had malfunctioned. "It’s because of those chips that we’re in this mess. The problems you’re all facing with your bodies are connected to that group." Abaddon’s fury ignited. "What? So, it’s him! Great, now that we know, let’s go confront him!" Joseph nodded. "But first, we’ll return to the hotel. Longrich might not know what we’re planning. He’s probably spying on us to secure his chip supply and protect his company. But his little schemes aren’t our concern. We need to focus on something else." The team understood their primary objective: finding a way out. Only by doing so could they avoid being exposed and manipulated. They needed to resolve this matter first, then deal with Longrich later. As they prepared to confront Longrich, Joseph noticed more people lurking around, watching them. He couldn’t help but chuckle darkly. "It seems someone is really paying close attention to us. Let's head to the European and English Group and pay Longrich a visit." "Yes, sir!" his subordinates replied. After they left, Kajelina, the daughter of the local branch’s president, finally emerged from her office, escorted by bodyguards. She had planned to thank Joseph, but when she stepped outside, he was already gone. Kajelina gazed at the car they had arrived in, feeling a mix of admiration and confusion. They had left so quickly, like a heroic savior in the night. But now, a new idea formed in her mind. Joseph had helped her tremendously, and she was determined to get in touch with him. The problem was, she didn’t even know his name. Yet, she was confident she could find out. She had noticed how Joseph and his group seemed to be following someone earlier. Surely, they were here for an important reason, and she needed to find a way to help them. Her thoughts were interrupted by a call from her father, Sonka. "Daughter, are you safe?" Sonka asked. Kajelina, still excited, replied, "I’m fine now, but Dad, who were those people? They’re incredibly powerful!" Sonka frowned. "It’s better if you don’t know. Knowing too much could be dangerous." Kajelina’s curiosity only grew. Who were these mysterious people that even her father warned her about? "Just don’t ask any more questions, my dear. I wouldn’t steer you wrong. By the way, are you feeling alright?" Kajelina chuckled, "Dad, I’m fine, really. You don’t need to worry about me. Just take care of yourself and Mom." Sonka sighed, "You’re getting better at talking your way out of things." He put away his phone and stared out the window, feeling a bit melancholic. He knew what he needed to do, but...
