Chapter 176: No Secrets
When Lucy heard that Joseph wanted to marry her, she was so shocked that her face turned red. However, she knew that this matter couldn’t be that simple.
Lucy looked at Joseph anxiously.
"Um... I remember Laxsta telling me that your relationship with her is rather unusual..."
Joseph quickly explained.
"Laxsta is merely an opponent of mine, my... arch-nemesis."
In fact, now that Lucy knew Joseph’s true identity, he saw no reason to lie to her any further. In this situation, explaining his relationship with the Shenduo organization was actually quite simple.
This was also why, despite feeling strange, Lucy hadn’t thought too much about it when she faced Joseph earlier. She knew there was a deep connection between them.
However, even with that understanding, this was still a huge issue for Lucy.
"So, you don’t have any feelings for Laxsta at all?"
Joseph frowned when he heard this.
"Lucy, listen to yourself. How could I possibly have feelings for Laxsta? Of course, I don’t."
Now that he didn’t have to lie to Lucy, everything felt much easier for Joseph.
He looked at Lucy calmly.
"You know, Laxsta and I have known each other for a long time, but we met on the battlefield abroad. When we first saw each other, there was nothing but resentment. But now, that’s no longer the case."
"I’ve already subdued the Shenduo organization that Laxsta is part of, and as for why she’s clinging to me..."
Joseph explained everything that had happened.
After listening to Joseph’s words, Lucy remained silent for a moment.
"I think Laxsta has a pretty good relationship with you. She seems to be a good match for you, and she has great qualities..."
Joseph frowned at this.
"Are you suggesting that I should be with Laxsta? What are you saying?"
Sure, Laxsta might be great, but Joseph had no interest in her.
"I only love you," Joseph said, looking at her with a soft smile.
"Even though other women might be great, they’re not for me. You are my wife, the one I’ve chosen, and I couldn’t possibly look at anyone else."
Lucy fell silent, her mind swirling with thoughts.
Even now, Lucy wasn’t sure what to do. Marrying Joseph was such a huge decision, one that she needed to carefully consider.
On one hand, everything she had was thanks to Joseph. But what would happen if she didn’t stay with him?
On the other hand, if she did stay with Joseph, would it turn him into someone not-so-good? These were all questions Lucy needed to figure out.
After all, the world Joseph lived in was completely different from her own.
Seeing Lucy’s conflicted expression, Joseph seemed to know what she was thinking.
"What, are you having second thoughts now?"
Lucy shook her head.
"No... no..."
"You said you wanted to be my woman," Joseph teased, causing Lucy’s face to turn a deep shade of red.
Joseph continued, "Don’t worry. Give me a few days, and once I’ve settled things abroad, everything will be fine."
Lucy frowned. "But it’s dangerous out there. Can’t you stay here instead?"
Of course, Joseph didn’t want to leave, but if he didn’t take care of things, they’d be in danger even here.
Joseph gently embraced Lucy.
"Don’t worry. If I wanted to come back, no one abroad could stop me. I’m not the same Joseph I used to be, and if anyone tries to block my way, they won’t get away with it."
After speaking, Joseph kissed Lucy’s cheek.
"I know you don’t want me to leave, and you don’t want to be away from me."
"But remember, you’re the only one in my heart. If you tried to leave me, it wouldn’t be possible. Think about it—who else in this world could love you the way I do?"
With that, Joseph chuckled.
"But don’t stress too much!"
"Now that you’re my wife, I’ll protect you and take care of you."
Lucy lowered her head, nodding softly.
"Mm..."
"Really, listen to yourself! How could I ever leave you, Joseph... I could never leave you..."
Hearing Lucy’s words, Joseph smiled slightly.
"That’s good."
Then, with a serious expression, Joseph said to Lucy, "There’s something else. Do you remember Samael? He used to stay with you. He’s been captured, and this guy named Remiel is definitely trying to use this to control our Hell Organization."
"I can’t let that happen, so you understand, right?"
After hearing this, Lucy nodded.
"I see."
Joseph looked off into the distance and began to speak slowly.
"The reason I’m doing all of this isn’t because I’m indifferent to my own life. It’s because I believe I need to settle the score with them. Otherwise, they’ll think our Hell Organization is something they can just mess with."
Hearing Joseph’s words, a few people exchanged glances.
"But Joseph, you know what you’re doing, right? You were badly injured last time when you fought them. If you continue, aren’t you risking your life?"
"You need to consider the consequences. You have a family now—your parents, your wife. Your loved ones are all in this world now. Are you really going to keep fighting? Aren’t you afraid?"
"I know what you’re worried about, but..."
Joseph gave a light laugh.
"But you don’t need to worry so much. I can feel that I’m much stronger than before, in every way. Even I believe that I won’t go down easily."
