Chapter 175: Knowing Faces, Not Hearts
Joseph knew his physical condition well. He initially thought that this matter had ended, but then Mundo added another detail.
"By the way, do you remember Laxsta? She's the one who brought you here, and... I heard she also met with Lucy."
What?
Joseph nearly jumped out of bed!
"Why would that woman meet with Lucy... Wait a minute."
Joseph narrowed his eyes. "What condition is Lucy in?"
"You saw Lucy's condition earlier—she seemed calm. It looks like Lucy wasn’t too upset."
Joseph silently pondered.
"So, what’s to be done about Laxsta? Did she say anything?"
"She didn't say much, but Lucy told me she wants you to forgive Laxsta."
Joseph frowned.
"Forgive her?"
He didn't say anything further because he knew this situation wasn’t as simple as it seemed. Lucy was definitely hiding something from him. And whatever Laxsta had done... it likely wasn't something that could be easily forgiven.
"Mundo," Joseph began, deciding not to press on the matter for now. "Do you know anything about Laxsta? Her motives, her background? Why did she show up? What’s going on here?"
Mundo shook his head. "I don't know. From my perspective, Laxsta doesn't seem to have any particular agenda at the moment."
But Joseph wasn’t convinced.
"Knowing someone’s face doesn't mean you know their heart. We can't just brush her actions aside so easily."
After saying this, he continued his questioning. "By the way, how are Lucy’s parents?"
"They've already been discharged."
Hearing this, Joseph let out a long breath.
"That’s good."
With Lucy's parents’ situation resolved, Joseph's thoughts turned to another serious matter.
"And now, about Lucy..."
"Lucy has become very strong. While you were unconscious, she handled everything at the hospital by herself. Joseph, she’s really something."
Joseph smiled.
"Of course."
He had thought everything was settled, but then Mundo added another point.
"By the way, do you remember Michelle?"
Joseph nodded.
"Isn't she that woman from the Heaven Organization? But why didn't she make a move against me?"
Mundo explained, "It seems she’s fallen for Samael. After returning, she planned to elope with him, only to discover that Remiel had swapped him out. The person she took wasn't Samael at all."
"Unfortunately, the Heaven Organization believes that it was Michelle who took him, so now Michelle is furious with Remiel. I’ve heard she’s gathering her forces, planning to kill Remiel!"
"Moreover, the AI has left the organization, and its current whereabouts are unknown. It’s programmed to recharge via solar power and can indefinitely extend its energy as long as there’s power. Do you know where it might have gone?"
After listening, Joseph nodded calmly.
Mundo, growing concerned, pressed on, "By the way, should you return to the Hell Organization and take charge? I’m worried Remiel might do something terrible with Samael, and I fear for Samael's safety!"
While many believed Samael had betrayed the Hell Organization, Mundo could see that it was all part of Joseph’s plan. Now might be the time to reveal the truth.
After hearing Mundo's words, Joseph nodded thoughtfully.
His original plan had been to place Samael as an undercover agent in the Heaven Organization, but due to his own circumstances, the Heaven Organization was now on the verge of collapse.
If Samael wasn't brought back soon, who knew what further complications might arise abroad?
With that in mind, Joseph nodded.
"Give the order for the Hell Organization to retrieve Samael!"
"No brother of ours should face danger out there!"
Mundo nodded in agreement.
"That's the true son of Hell!"
"As for the AI, it's programmed never to betray us! So no matter what happens now, we don't need to worry about it."
"Your focus, Mundo, should be on getting me back to full strength! Otherwise, even if I return to the organization, I won’t be able to do much!"
Mundo gritted his teeth. "I can try my best. Maybe I can get you back to using 80% of your strength, with your body at about 50% of its original state!"
Joseph calculated for a moment.
"That’s enough!"
A faint smile appeared on Joseph's face.
"Heaven Organization, just you wait!"
"The Hell Organization won’t back down from this final showdown!"
They might have thought the Hell Organization was an easy target before, but now Joseph was determined to reclaim everything he had lost!
And so, Joseph spent his days undergoing rehabilitation at the hospital, with Lucy frequently visiting to bring him food.
One day, Lucy arrived with a meal and sat down beside Joseph.
She frowned slightly as she looked at him.
"Why didn’t you tell me you’re part of the Hell Organization?"
Joseph studied her expression.
She wasn’t angry—just curious.
It was clear that Lucy had already come to terms with the news.
Joseph knew that Laxsta must have been the one who told her.
So, Joseph began to explain.
"It’s not that I didn’t want to tell you. I kept my identity a secret to protect you."
Lucy’s eyes filled with a mix of confusion and understanding.
Joseph continued to explain.
"Do you know what the Hell Organization is?"
Lucy shook her head.
"No, I don't."
Joseph gave a weary smile.
"The Hell Organization is a secretive group. It’s full of powerful individuals, and I am its leader—Joseph! I have many enemies out there. If I told you too early, I feared you would be in danger."
Lucy could understand what Joseph was saying, but...
"If Laxsta hadn’t told me, how long would you have kept this secret?"
Joseph sighed.
"At least until I’ve dealt with everything."
Lucy looked at Joseph with a steady gaze.
"Now, I want to ask you—do you truly want to marry me?"
Joseph nodded.
"Of course, why would I overlook you? I want to make you the happiest person in the world, along with our daughter. I won’t neglect either of you!"
"And the first step in giving you that life is by marrying you!"
