Chapter 127: Kerry's Hit-and-Run

After Joseph dealt with the two assassins, he searched their bodies for clues. He found a piece of paper with instructions. The note read: “Dispatch you two for an assassination mission. No need to explain the target much. His whereabouts are not precise, but killing the people around him will suffice. First, eliminate this man and then move on to other matters.” Joseph looked at the note, which indicated that there were no other assassins from the Fallen Order aside from these two. Joseph narrowed his eyes. “They're not taking me seriously, are they?” He knew that this failure would prompt them to send more assassins soon, and he would have to deal with them again. Determined, Joseph continued searching for more clues about the key locations of the Fallen Order. He had been trying to find their main base for a long time but hadn't succeeded yet. Unfortunately, the assassins didn't have any information about the key locations of the Fallen Order either. It seemed that these people were highly cautious and moved frequently. After organizing his findings, Joseph called the AI system of his organization. “Hello, I've dealt with the first batch of assassins from the Fallen Order. Keep a close watch on their actions from now on.” The AI responded affirmatively. “Yes, sir.” The Fallen Order had been a thorn in Joseph's side for some time, and now they were still trying to cause trouble. “If that woman from the Fallen Order comes in person, I can settle our previous scores once and for all!” Joseph carried Kainan out of the room. He decided to take Kainan to his own base for better care and protection. On the way, Joseph pondered the motives and schemes of the Fallen Order. He realized that the battle had only just begun, and greater challenges lay ahead. After arriving at Kainan's specialized underground base in Texas, Joseph placed him in a hospital room and assigned someone to take care of him. He then began analyzing the clues found on the assassins, trying to uncover the true intentions of the Fallen Order. Meanwhile, this incident caught the attention of not just a few people. Even in New York, people were aware of it. However, their main concern was about Joseph's family in New York. “Didn't I send you to kill Joseph's family? Why didn't you succeed?” The head of the Kerry family was berating his subordinates. His underlings, embarrassed, replied. “Sorry, boss. We failed. Who would've thought Joseph’s family would have such skilled protectors, even better than the President's bodyguards!” This news left everyone dumbfounded. Originally, the Kerry family had planned to retaliate against Joseph by attacking his family. But their operatives failed miserably and suffered losses themselves. “Boss! We just got word that Joseph was spotted in San Francisco, and his top fighters have left his side!” Realizing this, the Kerry family members understood. “Oh, so it was his bodyguards causing trouble! Otherwise, how could his family have such skilled protectors?” “Go! Send people to kill Joseph himself!” After resolving this, Kerry got into his Lamborghini with his mistress. The mistress, named Syndra, excitedly asked. “Can I drive?” Though Syndra wasn't very pretty, Kerry found her adequate. He nodded, touching her thigh as they drove. Suddenly, Kerry noticed a familiar figure nearby. “That person is... ” It was Joseph’s grandfather, Jonard, crossing the street. Kerry immediately ordered Syndra to drive toward him. “Run that old man over!” Syndra hesitated, frowning. “Why? Why should I kill him?” But Kerry didn’t care and forcefully pushed Syndra aside, stepping on the gas pedal. As he was about to hit Jonard, Syndra instinctively hit the brakes. Luckily, Jonard managed to avoid a fatal collision but ended up with severely broken legs. “Ah! A car accident! Someone ran a red light and hit a person!” Hearing the commotion, Kerry got out of the car. “Do you know who I am? Even if I want to kill someone, you can't stop me!” He arrogantly scanned the crowd before pointing at the injured Jonard. “Old man, you’re lucky this time! Next time, you won’t be so fortunate!” “You dared to come out alone? Aren’t you afraid I’ll kill you?” “You’re so careless, falling right in front of me. How pitiful!” “Should I help you inform the Joseph family?” Jonard, in immense pain, struggled to speak. “You did this on purpose. You’re trying to kill me!” Kerry shrugged. “Oh? I didn’t know that. Are you sure? Why don't you ask the people around here if I hit you on purpose?” “And look at you, still alive. Where’s the murder in that? Don’t make me laugh.” The bystanders, though disgusted, knew they couldn’t confront Kerry. They watched helplessly as Kerry continued his tirade. “Look at you, useless as ever.” “Here’s a chance to live.” “Bring Nami to me, and you can go back alive.”
