Chapter 125: Burning with Anxiety
Letting them live in Florida might actually help him solve a significant problem.
Meanwhile, Tangna had already arrived in Lucy’s room.
“Daddy Joseph! Come quickly! Mommy’s in trouble!”
Upon hearing this, Joseph rushed in.
He saw Lucy lying on the floor, unconscious!
“Who did this?!”
Joseph ran over immediately.
“I promised to give you both the best of everything, so why...?”
Joseph quickly picked up Lucy and hurried to the hospital.
He was anxious, praying all the way for Lucy to be okay.
At the hospital, the doctors immediately began to examine and treat Lucy.
Joseph waited anxiously outside the ward.
After what felt like an eternity, the doctor finally came out. Joseph hurried to ask about Lucy’s condition.
“The patient is currently out of danger, but she needs some time to recover and be observed.”
The doctor said.
Joseph breathed a sigh of relief, feeling as if a huge weight had been lifted off his shoulders.
He walked into the ward and sat beside Lucy’s bed, quietly watching over her.
Tangna stayed by his side, comforting Joseph in a mature manner.
“Don’t worry, Daddy. Mommy will get better.”
Tangna tightly held Joseph’s hand.
Joseph nodded, looking gratefully at his daughter.
“Thank you, Tangna. You’ve really grown up.”
When the doctor approached Joseph, he finally learned the truth.
Lucy’s health had been poor while she was raising Tangna alone. Her body was in a fragile state due to inadequate nutrition.
If it weren’t for Joseph’s help, Lucy’s body wouldn’t have been able to recover on its own.
Today’s fainting spell was due to low blood sugar and severe malnutrition, causing her body’s tissues to atrophy and deform.
Fortunately, after receiving IV fluids at the hospital, Lucy’s condition improved.
She opened her eyes and saw Joseph and Tangna.
“I’m sorry, Tangna, for scaring you.”
At that moment, Lucy felt a deep sense of self-loathing.
She had never felt this way before, but now everything seemed different.
Following Joseph around, her only role had been to bear his child.
Joseph was surrounded by many excellent women.
Beelzebub could take care of him, and others provided him with work assistance!
If she couldn’t prove her worth to Joseph one day, would he abandon her?
This anxiety had caused Lucy to faint from stress.
Seeing Lucy’s expression, Joseph understood there was a rift between them.
He held Lucy’s hand and gently comforted her.
“Don’t overthink it. You’re alright, and that’s all that matters.”
Lucy’s eyes filled with tears.
“I’m just afraid of becoming a burden to you.”
Joseph kissed her forehead.
“You’ll never be a burden. You and Tangna are my treasures.”
Tangna ran over and hugged them both.
“We are a family, and we’ll always be together!”
In the following days, Joseph carefully tended to Lucy while contemplating how to better protect them.
He decided to enhance their security measures and find a way for Lucy to strengthen herself.
After all, only by becoming stronger could she better face future challenges.
At the same time, as the school year approached, Joseph spoke to Lucy.
“By the way, I’m planning to find a school for Tangna. Do you have any preferences?”
Before Lucy could answer, Tangna protested about going to kindergarten.
She looked at Lucy with pleading eyes.
“Mommy, do you know Daddy wants me to go to kindergarten? I don’t want to go! What should I do?”
Lucy gently stroked Tangna’s head.
“Tangna, going to kindergarten means meeting new friends and learning many interesting things.”
Tangna pouted.
“But I don’t want to be away from Daddy and Mommy.”
Seeing this, Joseph knelt down to look Tangna in the eyes.
“Tangna, be good. Daddy and Mommy will miss you too, but in kindergarten, you’ll have teachers and friends to play with.”
It was the same line he had said many times, but it always worked.
For Joseph, it was a small joy.
Then, he added.
“On weekends, we can go to the park together. How about that?”
Tangna blinked, considering the suggestion.
Finally, she nodded.
“Okay, I’ll try kindergarten.”
Joseph and Lucy smiled at each other, feeling relieved.
In the following days, they began selecting a suitable kindergarten for Tangna and preparing the necessary items for her enrollment.
Lucy also resolved to improve herself and become a better mother, working with Joseph to create a better future for Tangna.
Once the kindergarten arrangements were nearly complete, Joseph spoke to Lucy.
“Take care of Tangna for now. If you need money, go to Hecarim. All our financial assets are with him. He won’t refuse because the money is ours, which means it’s also yours.”
Hearing that Joseph was leaving again, Lucy felt reluctant.
“Are you leaving so soon? It feels like you haven’t had much time to spend with Tangna.”
Joseph sighed.
“You know I have unfinished business with those people in New York. I can’t rest until it’s resolved.”
Lucy understood and nodded.
Just then, Tangna’s voice echoed.
“What? Daddy’s leaving again? No, Daddy, please don’t go!”
Joseph, heartbroken, picked up Tangna and comforted her.
“Don’t cry, Tangna. Daddy will be back soon. You need to be good in kindergarten and listen to Mommy and your teachers.”
Tangna wiped her tears and nodded.
“But what if I miss you?”
“Mommy will miss you too!”
“I won’t be happy in kindergarten!”
Seeing her tear-streaked face, Joseph felt terrible. He decided to spend more time with Tangna.
In the next few days, Joseph took Tangna to many places, and they spent joyful times together.
When the day of parting came, Joseph kissed Tangna’s forehead, said goodbye to Lucy, and headed to the airport.
On the plane, Joseph closed his eyes, reminiscing about the moments with Lucy and Tangna.
He knew he had to resolve his issues in New York quickly and return to his family.
Meanwhile, Lucy continued preparing for Tangna’s kindergarten life.
