"You don't need to worry about that Vanessa. Since we've already talked to Daniel about it I'm sure that he's going to take care of that person. As long as Scarlett doesn't want to, he won't be able to do anything to her!" Vivian said. She had a lot of trust in her husband. Vanessa sighed. She just hoped that her brother won't get into trouble because of her. "I just hope that Daniel won't get into trouble because of me" she spoke out he thoughts. "You don't need to worry. This isn't country F. He won't be able to do much here!" Vivian said. She was quite sure about that. "Alright then. I think we should leave now. It's already late" Vanessa said. Vivian agreed with her. The two women got up and started to walk out of the cafë They were on thier way out when Vanessa saw someone that looked very familiar. She wasn't sure at first so she called out, "Scarlett?" The woman turned. Vanessa saw her face. It really was her daughter Scarlett. But....what is she doing with that man Ethan? What she had been afraid of really happened. Ethan really did have the guts to make a move on her daughter! Who the hell does he think he is? He really doesn't have any shame at all! "Mom" Scarlett called out. It was really out of her expectations that she would run into her mother here. And who is this woman with her mother? Can someone please explain to her what is going on? "Scarlett" Vanessa called her name again. She walked over to her daughter and stood by her side, glaring intently at Ethan. "What are you doing here Scarlett?" Vanessa asked. It was obvious that she did not want to talk to Ethan. Ethan got up when he saw Vanessa. He really did not think that he would run into her here. "Vanessa....how are you doing?" He asked her. Vanessa rolled her eyes. "There's scum like you living in this world. What do you think will happen to me?" She snapped at him. Ethan was surprised when he heard what Vanessa said. Vanessa has always been a calm and collected woman who won't lose her temper easily. But now, she was spewing vulgarities in front of him. How much does she hate him to be this way? He looked past Vanessa and saw Vivian. He smiled at her but she rolled her eyes and looked away. Fine. He could not blame her. It was all his fault. Scarlett could sense the tension in the air. She did not need to wait any longer. She got up and held her mother's hand. "Mom, I'm already done here. Let's leave" she said. Anyway, she already said what she wanted to say to Ethan. As long as he knows what's good for him he won't ever come looking for her again. Seeing that Scarlett was about to leave, Ethan panicked. If she left, he did not know if he would be able to see her any time soon. "Scarlett I...." Scarlett did not let him finish. "I already said what I wanted to Mr. My mother and I, we don't need someone like you in our lives. I think that it will be for everyone's best interest if you will just stop pestering us. Good-bye" Scarlett said. She and Vanessa walked out of the cafë. Vivian did not immediately followed them out. She eyed Ethan before she said, "You really are the most shameless person I've ever met in this life. To think that you still have the guts to come see Scarlett! Aren't you afriad of retribution?" After she said, she hurried out to follow Scarlett and Vanessa. Ethan sat back down on the chair. He was really exhausted. He went through so much and did so many things in the last five years so that he could come back to his daughter but when he came back, it was already too late. Sigh. Was there really nothing that he could do now? He really wanted to make it up to Scarlett, but how is he supposed to do that when she doesn't even want to see him at all./? Brenda...that woman may be dead but he is going to here her for the rest of his life. Her death just wasn't enough to pay for the chaos that she had caused in his life! ....... Vanessa and Scarlett were in Scarlett's car. Vivian has already gone back home. Vanessa cleared her throat and looked at Scarlett's face. She wanted to ask why she was at a cafë with Ethan but she was afraid that it was going to upset her. She also wanted to ask if she knew that he is her father but she just did not know how she was supposed to bring up the topic. "Do you have something that you want to say to me mom? Just say it. Stop looking at me" Scarlett said. She was already pissed enough as it was. "Scarlett....do you know who that man is? Why were you in a cafë with him?" Vanessa finally mustered up her courage and asked her daughter. "What do you want to know? Do you want to know if I know that he is my father?" Scarlett asked. Vanessa sighed. So she already knows. To think that Ethan could be so shameless! Isn't he the one who said that he didn't want to have anything to do with Scarlett five years ago? He actually has gone to look for her now? What a bastard! But no matter how much she hated that man, she did not want her daughter to be consumed by the same hatred. "Scarlett....what do you think? Your father and I....a lot of things have happened between us and I'm not going to lie to you. I really do hate that man a lot. But he is your father. I just want to tell you...in cause you want to accept him as your father...." Scarlett did not let her mother finish. "What nonsense do you think that you are talking about mom? Tell me something, what do you really take me for? Do you think that I'm going to accept someone like that as my father?" Scarlett asked. She knew that her mother did not know that she was there that day when she was forced to sign the divorce papers. "I just don't want you to be consumed by hared. Anyway, you are already an adult and there is no way that I can control the things that you do. I just want to tell you that it's your life and it's your choice to make. Whatever decisions you take, I'm definitely going to be on your side!" Vanessa said. Scarlett really did not know what she was supposed to say to her mother. Is she magnanimous or is she stupid? "Mom, do you really think that I don't know about why the both of your seperated? Do you really think that I don't know that he forced you to get a divorce from him? Or do you think that I don't know that that man said that he regretted the fact that he has a daughter with you? After suffering so much humiliation from him, how can you tell me that I should make my own decision concerning this? What do you really take me for? Are you really so kind?" Scarlett asked. She was really angry now. Vanessa was shocked. How does Scarlett know about these things? "How do you....." "How do I want? How do I know about these things? I was there that day! I was there at the cafê when he forced you to sign the papers! I was there when he told you that you were trying to use your daughter to hold him back!" Scarlett said. Thinking about those incidents made her really angry. How can such a sum of the earth be her father? That day, she had seen how happy her mother was when she received the phone call. Things were really hard for them back then and they had to scramp on thier meals. Her mother who was always worrying was suddenly happy when she received the phone call. That day, she had taken on the role of an extra in a movie just so she could pay for thier meals the next day. Her mother who was always happy was suddenly smiling after talking to that person on the phone. Scarlett was curious and so she followed her mother when she left the house. She sat down at the next table and held the menu of the restaurant up to her face the entire time so that she won't be noticed. She heard everything that he said. How this man in front of her coldly demanded for a divorce. How he told her mother who has been waiting for him for fifteen years that he regretted ever having anything to do with her. She watched as her mother was finally coerced into signing the divorce papers. Her mother who was hurting so much that day was still thinking of her.. She wanted this man to at least see his daughter. Even though they were no longer together, her mother still wanted to give her daughter a good life. She wanted him to see his daughter. To help his own daughter have a good life. But this man in front of her accused her mother of wanting to hold him down with her daughter. He told her mother that he did not have a daughter. He did not force her to have a child and so she should take care of her daughter herself! Actually before that day, Scarlett did have some hope concerning her father. Her mother was always telling her that her father was going to come back one day and so subconsciously, she had started to wait along with her mother. That day, all of the fantasies that she had was completely crashed. The man was a beast who didn't even care at all. Scarlett could tell that him saying that he did not have a daughter was the last straw for her mother. Without complaining, she sighed the papers and left without a single word. From now that,her mother no longer talked about her father and she stoped waiting too. Scarlett never said anything, but she knew the reason. She never asked anything, because she already knew. Even when her mother told her not to hate her father,but she could not control herself. She started to hate him. Because she was too busy with her career then, she did not even have the time to hate someone. That hate became a sense of numbing. She no longer cared.
