Chapter 79

"I already told you that I don't hate you! You can't here someone who isn't alive! Just put yourself in your shoes for a second. You have lived the most part of your life without a father. And then someone suddenly shows up and tells you that he is your father. He starts telling you that he has had a lot of difficulties. It want his intention to leave you then tell me how are you going to feel? No matter what your intention is, the truth is that you left the both of us for so many years! Or do you really think that I don't know about the fact that you showed up five years ago to demand a divorce from my mother?" Scarlett asked suddenly raising her voice. Ethan was surprised. What is going on here? Didn't Vanessa say that she didn't tell thier daughter about what happened then? He was counting on the fact that she did not know what really happened to get closer to Scarlett. It turns out that she knows! But even if Vanessa told her, what else could he say? I followed her and then I heard tht things that you said to her!" Scarlett said. She we starting to lose control of her emotions thinking about the words that this man said to her mother then. She could see why this man looked familiar to her when she was him just now. It was because she knew him. She had seen him five years ago. That day, she had seen how happy her mother was when she received the phone call. Things were really hard for them back then and they had to scramp on thier meals. Her mother who was always worrying was suddenly happy when she received the phone call. That day, she had taken on the role of an extra in a movie just so she could pay for thier meals the next day. Her mother who was always happy was suddenly smiling after talking to that person on the phone. Scarlett was curious and so she followed her mother when she left the house. She sat down at the next table and held the menu of the restaurant up to her face the entire time so that she won't be noticed. She heard everything that he said. How this man in front of her coldly demanded for a divorce. How he told her mother who has been waiting for him for fifteen years that he regretted ever having anything to do with her. She watched as her mother was finally coerced into signing the divorce papers. Her mother who was hurting so much that day was still thinking of her.. She wanted this man to at least see his daughter. Even though they were no longer together, her mother still wanted to give her daughter a good life. She wanted him to see his daughter. To help his own daughter have a good life. But this man in front of her accused her mother of wanting to hold him down with her daughter. He told her mother that he did not have a daughter. He did not force her to have a child and so she should take care of her daughter herself! Actually before that day, Scarlett did have some hope concerning her father. Her mother was always telling her that her father was going to come back one day and so subconsciously, she had started to wait along with her mother. That day, all of the fantasies that she had was completely crashed. The man was a beast who didn't even care at all. Scarlett could tell that him saying that he did not have a daughter was the last straw for her mother. Without complaining, she sighed the papers and left without a single word. From now that,her mother no longer talked about her father and she stoped waiting too. Scarlett never said anything, but she knew the reason. She never asked anything, because she already knew. Even when her mother told her not to hate her father,but she could not control herself. She started to hate him. Because she was too busy with her career then, she did not even have the time to hate someone. That hate became a sense of numbing. She no longer cared. And so the story that this man told her no longer had any effect on her. Ethan was surprised that Scarlett knew about that day five years ago. So she was there that day and she heard everything for herself that day. Five years ago, Breda found out that his heart had never been with her. Maybe because he was doing a really good job of pretending to be loving to Breda she actually started to believe it. She www crushed when she found out that it had always been an act from the beginning. She had always been an eccentric and crazy woman who would do anything to get what she wants. She forced him to return to the country and get a divorce from Vanessa. He wasn't even allowed to see his daughter. He knew that he had to get rid of this woman. This was the last straw for for him. He knew that he had to get rid of that woman or he was going to live the rest of his life as her puppet. He started his plan five years ago. He had to get rid of Brenda. He did not regret k*lling her. That woman deserved it. She was crazy. She was only going to do more crazy stuff if she was left alone! "Scarlett I...." "I don't want to hear anything more from you. To me, you already died five years ago. Don't show up in front of me ever again!" Scarlett said. Just then, "Scarlett?" Someone called. Scarlett turned and saw her mother with some other woman that she did not know. "Mom?" She called out. ...... Daniel had left because he had some work to take care of. Vanessa and Vivian were still talking. Vanessa was still thinking about her daughter. What is Ethan going to do her? Does he really want to see her? What if that man tricks her? She really could not understand the reason why he was even back and he was looking for Scarlett in the first place. What does he think that he'll be able to do for her now? She already has her own life now. She doesn't need him anymore. he did not show up when his daughter really needed him to show up. What does he think that he can do for her right now? "Whatever. I don't care about him anymore. He already wasted the best part of my youth I was stupid for that man. I don't have to care anymore. I'm just confused... why did he come back this time? He came back five years to get a divorce properly and end things with me...so why is he back again?" Vanessa asked. This was something that she could not figure out He said that he left because he did not want to have anything to do with her anymore. He did not want to meet her anymore. But he actually did come back this time and the both of them even managed to run into each other immediately. What kind of plot twist is this? Vivian sighed before she answered Vanessa "I heard that his wife Brenda passed away a few years ago. She was suffering from last stage cancer" Vivian said. "Oh..." Hearing that that woman died, Vanessa really did not feel anything. Whether it was victory that she died or sadness, she did not feel anything. After all, it takes two to clap. Even though she took Ethan away from her, he was never true to her to begin with. If it wasn't her, it would have been another person. she did not need to be concerned about the life and death of such a person. It did not have anything to do with her. "Seriously, what does he take you for? How wife died and he comes back? What does he take this place for?" Vivian asked. She was truly angry for Vanessa. After all, this has been dragging on for so many years. Ethan just did not want to put an end to it completely. It seemed that he enjoyed playing this push and pull game with Vanessa a lot. Vivian suddenly thought of something that was the most important. Vanessa did not have any plans of going back right? "You ...don't have any plans of going back to Ethan right? His wife already died so he should be single now... if he wants...." Vivian did not get to finish her words. "Vivian!" Vanessa yelled cutting her off. "I know that I have done a lot of stupid and foolish things in my life. I know that I didn't do well when I was young, falling for that kind of trash man and giving up everything for him, but I don't think that I'm stupid to the extent that I don't want my life anymore. Seriously, why will I want to go back to such a person?" Vanessa asked. She was really angry just thinking about it. Thoughts of ever being with that man again in this life really made her want to puke. Vivian sighed in relief when she heard that. But is Vanessa really serious about this? What if she goes back with some coaxing from Ethan? The panic that was on her face when she mentioned that he was back...that panic was real. "Are you sure that you won't go back?" Vivian asked. "Vivian, I've been through a lot of things. I waited for fifteen years for him to come back. He came back and told me to my face that he regretted ever having anything to do with me in this life. He didn't even want to see my daughter...he told me he wasn't sure if she was his....forget other things...but for the fact that he doubted the fact that Scarlett is his, I'll never have anything to do with him!" Vanessa said. Scarlett was her sore point. She never wanted to have anything to do with him because of Scarlett. She was suffering a lot trying to make a name for herself in the entertainment industry...and her father was doubting that he has anything to do with her. How can she ever get together with such a man? Her concience won't let her do something like that at all! TBC
