Chapter 65-66

Scarlett could not help thinking about what Rose had told her about Matt today. He did not know how to like someone. He doesn't know what it means to like someone. He doesn't have any sincerity at all. Scarlett was starting to agree with Rose. Maybe she was right. Maybe Ryder is like that. No, there was no one who could fit that discription more than Ryder. He probably really doesn't know what it means to like someone at all. He doesn't have any sincerity towards her at all! Scarlett thought that she has figured it out now. She must not fall for the trap of that man. Who knows what plans he has to mess around with her? She had to be careful around him. She really could not keep her guard down at all! Just then, the door opened and Ryder walked out. Scarlett looked up and her gaze met his handsome face. No matter how many times she looked at him, Scarlett really could not bring herself to come to terms with his look. How can he be so good looking? What kind of sorcery is that? And just like the first time when she saw him, she still thought that it was a pity that this man has such looks. Ryder noticed the way Scarlett was looking out him when he came out of the bathroom. He could not help but get the feeling that something was wrong. Thinking about it, the way that she stoped him from continuing was weird. She could have stopped him if she didn't want to from the start, but she waited until he was all fired up. And then she left him to deal with the problem on his own. At some point tonight, did he annoy this woman? No matter how much he thought about it, he just could not picture the scenario where he has annoyed her. So, he had to ask. "Scarlett, is there something wrong?" Ryder asked her. "No, why would you feel that there is something wrong?" Scarlett retorted. Clearly, she wasn't planning to tell him about what she had discovered. Anyway, why should she tell him? So that he could make up a lie to pacify her? Hmm, she still wasn't that stupid! She isn't going to tell him anything. "I just felt that there is something wrong with the way that you are treating me tonight. Did I do anything to let you down?" Ryder was still as cautious as possible when he was asking her the questions. "You should be asking yourself that question. Did you do anything to let me down? Is there a reason why I should be angry with you?" Scarlett asked. She was really angry after what she has discovered. But she was even more angry and frustrated when this man could not even figure it out! Who said that he could not figure it out? He probably knows really well what he has done! Maybe it's not that he can't figure it out, but it's just that he's playing dumb with her right now! He knows what he has done but he won't admit it! Ryder "....." He asked that question because he wanted to know if he did something wrong without knowing. Who knew that she was going to turn his wife around to question him instead? Ryder has pretty much figured out that at this point he had to be really careful when he was talking to Scarlett. Or else he was going to fall into a trap without his knowledge. He knew that he could no longer continue with this line of conversation. He could only suck it up and try to pacify her at this point. "Oh, I heard from Matt that you are going to start filming tommorow?" Ryder asked trying to change the topic. He didn't hear from Matt. He wanted to know everything about Scarlett. He wanted to know every single thing that she was doing and so he had asked Matt and forced him to tell him about Scarlett's schedule. Well,he did hear it from Matt to be precise. He wasn't lying. He wasn't lying at all. Scarlett narrowed her eyes as she looked at the man. What is he getting at? Since when was he so concerned about the things that she was doing? "Since when are you so concerned about me?" Scarlett asked. She could not help but feel wary in the presence of this man? Who knows what he was planning? She didn't want to fall for his trap and cheap talks at all! "Of course, I know what you are doing. You are my wife and I'm very curious about you. Isn't it just about right that I should be curious about what my wife is doing?" Ryder asked with a smug smile on his face. He was literally saying, "see, I care about you so much. Praise me now!" Scarlett tried hard to stiffle a laughter. She was still angry with him but she wanted to laugh. She didn't know that there was a time where a grown man like Ryder would be cute. Something clicked in Scarlett's head. "You said that your heard from Matt. But now you say that it's because you want to know about me. So did you hear from Matt or did you specifically ask him?" Scarlett asked Ryder. She was teasing him, and yet he was too embarrassed to be caught in a lie for her to notice that. Ryder figured that he had tricked himself and fell for a trap that he dug. He made it sound as if he didn't want to know at all and it was Matt who could not wait to tell him. But then a few seconds later, he was saying a totally different thing. Ryder could only bit the bullet and continue to be shameless. If he tried to hold on to his pride, he would only make Scarlett more angry. Rather than losing his pride, he was more afraid of Scarlett being angry and then her ignoring him. "You are right. I did ask Matt to tell me. But you see it's because I'm worried about you. I need to know which projects my wife is doing now so that I can give her my full support" Ryder said. Scarlett ''......" She had to admit that this man's shamelessness was off the charts. There was no one who could compete with him or come close to home in shamelessness. And the words "my wife" were just rolling off his tounge right now right? Anyway, she was too lazy to harp about those things with him. Without her noticing it at all, the unhappiness that Scarlett was feeling because of Ryder had started to dissipate slowly. She didn't even realize it herself. "Forget it. I'm going to bed" Scarlett said. "Right now, you will be acting alongside Sonia right?" Ryder asked. He wasn't done talking to her yet. Of course, it would be for the best if he could make sure that Scarlett forgets about all the things that were making her unhappy today. In fact, that was his goal. Scarlett was stunned. He knows about Sonia? Scarlett knows that Ryder doesn't care about the artists in the company. He didn't even know her when the both of them met for the first time! But he knows Sonia? How come? "You know Sonia?" Scarlett asked. "Of course I know her. She's your rival after all. I told you that I'm interested in everything that has anything to do with you!" Ryder said. He thought that he would make Scarlett happy with these words but he was surprised when he saw the unhappiness on her face deepen. What is going on here? "So you know Sonia? I guess that you must have been paying a lot of attention to her since you know her so well. You didn't even know me when we first met " Scarlett said. No matter how dense Ryder was, he could tell that she was jealous now. But he still knew better than to harp on it and call her out for it. He immediately denied knowing Sonia. Actually he didn't even know the woman before. Of course he did not know her personally. Matt had only told him about Sonia since the both of them, Scarlett and Sonia, were rivals.. Or else, he won't even know about her at all! He was really feeling wronged now. "No...no....no....I don't know her at all! It's because I want to know everything about you! That's why I know about Sonia. I was even thinking. She isn't that much of a great actress. Why don't we terminate our contract with her? She won't be an actress with our company anymore. Don't you think that that is great? You won't have to see her if you don't want to!" Ryder said. Anyway, Matt had told him that the company invested in Scarlett's new drama too, as long as he didn't want to, Sonia won't even be the second lead in the drama. That was wonderful! Scarlett could tell that he was trying to pacify her now. Why couldn't she tell that this man was this kind of person when they met for the first time? She felt like she had been conned! "Forget it! I'm going to sleep!'' Scarlett said. She did not want to continue the conversation. Scarlett closed her eyes and tried to sleep. Before she could react, Ryder had already gotten on the bed. She did not have anything to say about that. They had already confirmed that they would share a room and a bed because she lost. And so even if she didn't want to, she had to put up with it. And....she didn't really hate it that much. As the scent of the shampoo that Ryder had used filtered into her nose, Scarlett could not stop thinking about the perfume that she had smelled on him. Who really is that woman? ****** The next day, Scarlett left the house earlier than Ryder. It was the first day of filming after all. Ryder picked up his dirty clothes from last night and was going to put them in the washing machine. He smelled a strange scent from it. It was perfume. And it smelled girly. Where did he get this from? Then he remembered that Mira had held on to him last night. Ryder smiled and stroked his chin. Is this the reason why Scarlett was angry last night?. It really made him happy. Does this mean that Scarlett does care about him? She was jealous because of the perfume. She could have talked about this with him but she was over Thinking things and got angry on her own. Scarlett...she does have times when she is cute though. ****** Ethan was in his home. He was still looking at the files. . Everything about Scarlett was in it. This was her. This was his daughter. The daughter that he was forced to sever all ties with. After he met with Vanessa and she refused to help him meet with Scarlett, he knew that it was no longer going to work that way. Vanessa in the years that he has been away,she has changed a lot. Ethan sighed. He was stupid for expecting her to still be the same woman. When he had changed a lot himself. But he did do what she told him to. Even though his influence here wasn't as great as it was in country F, at least, he was still better than the average person. He would be able to find a single person. And so, she launched an investigation. He found out about Scarlett, how her life had been since he left when she was five years old. Vanessa was a prideful woman. To wait for him, she did not go back to her family. She kept waiting and living a hard life thinking that he was going to come back to her.
