chapter 66

Scarlett was already at home when she heard the door opening. She was trying to fall asleep but she wasn't asleep yet so she immediately heard the door when it opened. She knew that it was Ryder. She reached out for her phone and looked at the time. Heh, he is only coming back now. Wait, why does she care when he comes back? It would be even better for her if he could stay out longer! She won't have to care about him at all then! Still, knowing that he has come back, Scarlett could not go back to sleep. She was already having a hard time sleeping before and she was having an even harder time now. Seriously, what should she do with this person? Scarlett lied down on the bed and closed her eyes pretending to sleep. But then the door opened and Ryder walked in. Her expression stiffened when she realized that. Why did he come in here? Scarlett's eyes snapped open at once when she saw he came into the room. "What are you doing here?" Scarlett snarled at him. Ryder's expression was soft. Even though he knew that she was despising him right now, he could not help himself. He felt that this was what it meant to be truly in love with someone. He could accept anything about her, as like as be could continue to see her like this. "What do you mean? Of course I'm going to be here,we are married of course" Ryder said. Scarlett wanted to refute him and tell him that this was not a marriage of convience but she remembered that he had already told her that he would like to be a real couple with her. That excuse wasn't going to work on him anymore. What should she do now? She weighed the pros and cons and just decided to let him be. But just as Scarlett had decided to take a step back, Ryder spoke up again. "Besides, did you forget the bet that we made? If you lose, you'll have to share a room with me. Did you forget?" Ryder asked. Scarlett's face went red when she thought about it. It was true, she did make such a bet But the events that happened after all proved her wrong. She was really regretting going on that honeymoon with him, nothing went well for her since she decided to go on a honeymoon with him! And as if that wasn't enough, he still tricked her into having to share a room with him. She won't be able to guard against him much in this kind of situation. Seriously what should she do? "You.... " Scarlett wanted to say something but the second she opened her mouth she realized that there was nothing that she could say to him. She was at a loss for words. "Scarlett" Ryder called out. His voice was sombre. Scarlett could not resist the urge to sit upright and look at Ryder properly. The second she did that, she regretted it. She felt that she was falling into an endless whirlpool. What's wrong with the look in the man's eyes? He looked like....he was about to devour her.... Ryder wasn't planning on doing anything to Scarlett. But when he saw the dazed look in her eyes, he really could not control himself. He wasn't a good person. He knew that fact. He had messed around with a lot of women in his life, but still.... Scarlett was the first and only woman who could make him feel like this. The only woman who could make him feel like his self control was worth nothing at all. And really, his self control was worth nothing in front of her. He didn't even bother to try. He simply couldn't do it. He inched closer to Scarlett. This time though, Scarlett didn't try to back away from him. She was sitting on the bed, looking at him, at this point, ur just seemed that she was trying to figure out what he was going to do to her. This reaction excited Ryder all the more. Ryder pinched her chin and then forced her to look into his eyes. Right now, he really wanted to kiss her full lips.... He leaned in closer on her and caught her lips in a fierce movement. He knew what Scarlett was like, if he continued to hesitate like this, he would be getting nothing in the end. Ryder sucked on her lips but Scarlett refused to give him access into her mouth. He didn't think much about it, he just thought that the woman still had her guard up against him. Scarlett's mind however, was already a complete mess. She didn't know what she was supposed to do or how she was supposed to keep up with this. What is going on? Should she respond to the kiss? Before she could think of what else to do, Scarlett felt a hand creeping up her body. Ryder who was kissing her had long lose all of his self control. His hands were no longer honest. At first, they were resting by his side. But now, they were roaming all over Scarlett's body. He first started with wanting to tease her, and now it just seemed as if he had dug a hole for himself. He could not extricate himself from this. Not that he wanted to anyway. His hands crept up her sleepwear, then he noticed that she wasn't wearing anything under it. Ryder sucked in a breath. Seriously, is this woman planning to seduce him? Ryder smiled mockingly at himself when he had that thought. She doesn't even want to have anything to do with him so why would she plan to seduce him? This was probably just a concidence. A happy coincidence. He kept feeling around her body and he cupped a feel of her breast. Immediately, he felt Scarlett's body stiffen. At first, she wasn't enthusiastic but she wasn't averse to it either, so he thought that he could continue. Why....is she like this? Why did she stop him all of a sudden? "Ryder...." Scarlett called out. Ryder felt like she was moaning out his name and all that he wanted to do right now was to push her on the bed and enter her as ruthlessly as possible. But he knew that her calling his name wasn't that. So he stopped himself. He looked at Scarlett but then she turned her face away. He would be an idioit if he didn't already get the message. She doesn't want to. He got it loud and clear. He should leave her alone now. Even though he was disappointed, he tried to cheer himself up. He was too anxious. He had not even confirmed if she wanted to give his relationship with her a try or not. But he was already thinking of....serves him right for being too excited. He totally deserved this. "I'm sorry I...." Ryder started with his apology but when he looked at Scarlett's face, he really did not want to continue the damned apology. He just wanted to push her down and take her! Damn it! She was his wife! Why did he have to have so many considerations if he wanted to do something with her? He should have known better than to have that bet with her! This was pure torture! Sleeping next to her and not being able to do anything was much more torture than not sleeping with her at all! In end though, he still let his rationality take over and continued with the apology. "I'm really sorry Scarlett, I, guess I was too excited just now. I wasn't thinking straight. Don't worry, I'm not going to force you to do anything with me. As long as you don't want to, I won't force you. Just now, I was too anxious. It's my fault sorry" Ryder said. Scarlett only hummed in reply to his apology. She didn't know what was wrong with her. Just now, she had clearly thought they well, since this was going to happen anyway, she should just go along with it. But then she.... anyway she realized that she could not pretend as if she didn't notice something and then go along with it. Right now, she was feeling a bit angry. But Ryder didn't seem to notice that she was mad at him. He kept talking. "I'm really sorry, but Scarlett, I really hope that you can give our relationship a chance. I'm not really asking for much, I just want, I just want to be with you... can't you think about it" Ryder asked. Scarlett didn't say anything but Ryder didn't press on. He knew that if he kept pressuring her, it was only going to have counter effects. In fact, he felt that this was already good enough for the night. He walked into the bathroom to prepare for bed. Immediately Ryder walked into the bathroom, the cold and indifferent look that was on Scarlett's face faltered. It was gone in a few seconds. It was hard to tell what she was thinking. Scarlett could not stop thinking about the whiff of perfume that she has gotten from Ryder's clothes. It was just a whiff, but she was sure of it. And it was a woman's perfume. Didn't he say that he was only meeting with Matt? He had called her personally to tell her that. Scarlett didn't react to it when he told her but deep down she had been happy. She didn't know why but the fact that he thought to tell her where he was and who he was with made her really happy. But now, he came back with a woman's perfume on his clothes. She really couldn't continue to pretend as if she didn't notice anything and let him continue to touch her like that. Who knows what he has done with some woman before he came back? When he was kissing her, Scarlett kept thinking that maybe he has done the same thing with the same woman. Maybe he had been intimate with another woman before he came back to her. She really couldn't do it. She really could not let a man who was probably snuggling up with another woman come back to touch her. She felt like he was disrespecting her. She really didn't want to at all! And so when he cupped her breasts, she made up her mind. She did not want to! He should just get lost! Scarlett had thought that she wasn't expecting much from this marriage. She wasn't expecting him to be loyal to her or anything. She just felt that since it was a marriage that would blow up in six months, she didn't need to care much about it as long as he didn't get photographed by the media. It seemed that she was wrong she didn't even know what she was thinking in her head. Today, when she found out that there might be a possibility that he was with some other woman, she had felt a numbing pain in her chest. Scarlett didn't know what that feeling was. Maybe she just felt humiliated that he would cheat on her when he said that he loves her ! Yes, that must be it! It must be because she feels humiliated. It was nothing more than that! Scarlett could not help thinking about what Rose had told her about Matt today. He did not know how to like someone. He doesn't know what it means to like someone. He doesn't have any sincerity at all. Scarlett was starting to agree with Rose. Maybe she was right. Maybe Ryder is like that. No, there was no one who could fit that discription more than Ryder. He probably really doesn't know what it means to like someone at all. He doesn't have any sincerity towards her at all! ******** Scarlett was already at the filming set. Today, they were going to take some promotional photos for the drama. Because she was the female lead, she had her own dressing room. She was in her dressing room right now putting on her make up. When Scarlett was done, she walked out of the dressing room. Unfortunately, as soon as she walked out, she bumped into Sonia. It seemed that she had the opposite the dressing room. It wasn't as big as hers though, befitting of Sonia's status as the second lead. Scarlett knew Sonia well enough to know that she would not be satisfied with the dressing room. She always wanted to compete with her for everything anyway. And so she wasn't surprised at all when Sonia started glaring at her with so much hate. Anyway, she won't bother herself with the antics of a person who seemed like she had some serious problem with her brains. TBC
