Chapter 86: Catch the Dog
Jenna's father continued to hit her, but Johnson and the others couldn't stand it anymore.
"That's enough, stop hitting the child."
"Yeah, look at how badly she's hurt."
"That's enough."
But Jenna's father had no intention of stopping. He knew that if Joseph was not satisfied, everything would be in vain.
"You all need to stop," Joseph said coldly, looking at them. "Do you think your acting is good or what?"
"I know, Jenna, that you're angry, but with your skills, even if you can't work, you shouldn't be doing nothing at home."
"As someone who can protect this family, why did you do nothing when you saw all this happening?"
"You're just a worthless coward!"
"Beelzebub, go ahead."
Joseph didn't like Jenna's father hitting her. He wanted his subordinate, Beelzebub, to take action.
As soon as he finished speaking, Beelzebub appeared in front of Jenna and slapped her hard. Jenna, seemingly powerless, was thrown dozens of meters away.
Before she could react, Beelzebub punched her again, making Jenna feel utterly hopeless and as if she were on the verge of death.
Jenna had never experienced such a scene before. Now, controlled by this situation, not only Jenna but everyone else was also overwhelmed.
"Oh my god, Mr. Joseph, please show mercy!"
"Jenna, don't die! Jenna!"
"My dear daughter, please don't die, please don't die…"
"Call an ambulance!"
Jenna was too badly injured to speak. She looked at the others and then passed out.
Jenna's mother, Lissandra, couldn't help but shout.
"Joseph, you wait! If anything happens to my daughter, you'll be the first to die!"
Beelzebub laughed coldly upon hearing Lissandra's words. She walked up to Lissandra and, in a threatening tone, said,
"Then you better hope your daughter is fine, otherwise…"
"I'll personally help you kill your daughter."
What kind of statement was that? If the daughter was fine, she would kill her?
"You’re finished!"
Lissandra knew that Joseph intended to take them to Florida. Florida was completely different from San Francisco.
In San Francisco, they might not be ordinary people, but to the people in big cities like Florida, it was different. Who knows what could happen?
As long as they all appeared in Florida near her family, it didn't matter what happened next.
Lissandra believed that as long as they were with her family in Florida, everything would be resolved. No matter how powerful Joseph was here, there would be no solution in Florida!
Unbeknownst to her, she was overthinking it. Joseph heard Lissandra's words but didn't take them to heart.
From his perspective, it was a simple matter. Who would care about such an ordinary woman? No one would!
At that moment, an ambulance arrived. The paramedics quickly took Jenna and rushed her to the hospital.
Lissandra watched the ambulance drive away, feeling a sense of unease.
In the hospital, after emergency treatment, Jenna's life was saved, but she remained in a coma.
Lissandra sat by her daughter's bedside, silently weeping.
She decided that once Jenna woke up, she would take her away from here, far from Joseph and his demonic subordinates.
Moreover, she wanted to make Joseph’s subordinates pay!
Meanwhile, Joseph was on the phone.
"Hello, get the San Francisco police chief over here."
"Yes, sir!"
In less than half an hour, the police chief of San Francisco, a rotund man, arrived.
He anxiously looked at Joseph inside the room.
"Mr. Joseph, is there something you're unhappy about?"
He had no idea what had upset Joseph. He hadn't committed any mistakes, yet Joseph was furious.
Joseph looked at him coldly.
"I want you to lock down all of San Francisco. No dogs in or out until I find the one I'm looking for."
Wait, what?
Find a dog?
It was just a dog. Why go to such lengths?
The police chief looked troubled. Catching a dog was completely different from catching a person. If it were a person, he could understand, but a dog? This was too much!
"Mr. Joseph, this might cause public panic…"
Joseph interrupted him.
"If you can't do it, don't blame me for being rude."
His gaze was filled with menace.
The police chief knew how terrifying Joseph was. Hearing Joseph's words, how could he refuse?
Reluctantly, the police chief nodded.
"Alright, I'll arrange it immediately."
Joseph left the room, determined to find the dog that had tried to harm his daughter and make it pay.
Suddenly, he remembered something.
"Did you see this woman?"
He showed the police chief a photo of Sophie.
The police chief was startled.
"Ah? Who is this…"
"This is the woman who nearly got hurt protecting my daughter."
"Although I don't consider her important, let me tell you."
"If something happens to her, I'll come after you. If something happens to my daughter, it won't be as simple as me coming after you."
"If more people get hurt, there will be serious consequences."
Realizing that Joseph's daughter had nearly been hurt, the police chief was stunned.
"I, I understand. It's our fault. Sorry, sorry!"
"I will definitely resolve this."
Joseph nodded lightly.
"Go, and handle all the stray dogs."
The police chief nodded repeatedly, sweating profusely.
He quickly gathered his men and began a city-wide search for stray dogs.
Everyone else was shocked. After all, he was the police chief. A police chief not catching criminals but rounding up stray dogs? This was absurd!
