Chapter 85: Watching Someone Die?

“Hecarim used to be my brother, but I don’t have time to talk about him now,” Joseph said. “I think my brother’s situation is pitiful.” “The only thing we can do is wait for the day you come with me to Florida and take a good look at him.” “Either we see if his leg can be treated or consider fitting him with a prosthetic.” Everyone nodded at Joseph's words. “Alright, that sounds good,” someone said. “But Mr. Joseph, are you trying to help your friend walk again?” “That requires very strong abilities.” Joseph replied calmly, “I believe he has the strength.” “I also believe that he would do anything to be able to walk again.” Hearing this, Dr. Mundo nodded. “Alright, I understand.” “I’ll go back and prepare. We can meet soon.” Listening to Joseph and the others, Tangna’s expression became more serious and attentive. This experience taught Tangna the importance of courage and responsibility. She was determined to become as strong as Beelzebub. “Mom, I want to be as amazing as Aunt Beelzebub, and also become a doctor like Dr. Mundo!” Lucy smiled. “How can you become two people at once? That’s very difficult!” After handling these matters, Joseph turned his attention to Beelzebub. “Alright, now tell me about Jenna.” Beelzebub immediately walked over. “Reaper, Jenna didn’t lift a finger to help.” “I see.” Joseph’s eyes turned cold. He hadn’t expected Jenna to be so heartless. “She dared to stand by and do nothing. She will pay for this.” Beelzebub nodded in agreement. “I had only left for a short while to use the restroom, and in that time, Sophie was bitten by the dog. Jenna didn’t even try to help!” “So, big brother, it’s not just that Jenna didn’t help; she practically caused it!” Joseph nodded. “Where was Jenna at the time?” “On the rooftop!” “I suspect she was waiting for something to happen to Tangna!” A cold gleam flashed in Joseph’s eyes as he decided to confront Jenna himself. He took Beelzebub to where Jenna was. “Jenna, why did you stand by and do nothing?” Joseph asked directly. Jenna’s family was stunned. Why was Joseph here again? They were already terrified by his previous visit, and now he was back. Joseph wasn’t giving them any chance to resolve the situation! Seeing Joseph, Jenna was filled with anger. FBI! Her career! The defense forces didn’t respect her anymore! Her career had plummeted, all because of this man! Thinking of this, Jenna’s anger flared. She didn’t even want to listen to Joseph. Just seeing him filled her with hatred. But now wasn’t the time to discuss those things. Seeing Joseph’s furious expression, Jenna feigned innocence. “I was scared too. I thought the dog would attack me…” Joseph interrupted her. “Enough! You knew Sophie was protecting Tangna and did nothing! Your actions make it impossible for me to trust you.” Jenna said calmly, “I don’t know what you’re talking about. Do I have to justify breathing in my own home?” “I didn’t do anything wrong; this has nothing to do with me!” “I just got home!” Everyone was growing angry listening to Jenna’s nonsense. But Jenna continued. “Your daughter’s issues have nothing to do with me. Sophie got bitten; that’s her problem.” “Why blame me for everything?” Joseph squinted. “You’re looking for trouble.” “If you hadn’t lied, I might have given you a chance. But your lies disgust me.” “You show no remorse. You’re asking for trouble.” Joseph looked coldly at Jenna. “Are you going to admit your mistakes?” Jenna maintained her attitude. “I didn’t do it!” Others in the room began to speak up. “Could it be that Jenna really isn’t at fault?” “Mr. Joseph, could you be mistaken?” Joseph’s eyes grew colder. He didn’t want to waste any more words with Jenna. “I will uncover the truth. If I find even a hint of deceit, you’ll face the consequences.” Jenna still looked fearless. In the next moment, Joseph clapped his hands, and several men wearing reaper masks appeared. “What’s this?” Jenna was startled. She had no idea these people existed. “Did you record everything?” Joseph asked. One of the masked men handed Joseph a recording device. Joseph played the recording for everyone to see. The footage clearly showed Jenna at the scene during the incident. “Tangna called out, ‘Jenna, can you help us scare away the dog?’” Jenna didn’t respond, acting as if she didn’t hear. Everyone was shocked. What was going on? Not only did Jenna ignore Tangna, but she also turned and left. The truth was now clear. Everyone looked at Jenna. Jenna was also stunned. She hadn’t expected anyone to record it. In the silence, Jenna’s father stepped forward. He slapped Jenna hard. “How could you do such a thing?” Jenna covered her face, tears welling up. Realizing her lies were exposed, she was at a loss for words. Joseph looked sternly at Jenna. “I wanted to give you a chance, but you chose to lie.” Before he could continue, Jenna’s father slapped her again, though it was more for show, hoping to appease Joseph. Seeing no reaction from Joseph, the tension remained.
