Chapter 77: Look Down on Me, Huh?

“They just bought it?” “Seriously, is this for real?” “Are you putting on a show for us?” The other salespeople were getting annoyed, convinced that no one could buy two houses at once. However, Myrdal nodded earnestly. “They really bought them.” The salespeople were bitter but didn’t know how to vent their frustration on Myrdal. “Hah, what if that card has no money on it? Would you still be so happy?” “Exactly! How could they afford it dressed so shabbily?” Despite their comments, Myrdal remained hopeful. “But... I feel like they’re good people.” “Just go swipe the card. You’ll see soon enough.” Even though Myrdal had her doubts, she followed their instructions and walked to the finance department. The other salespeople pointed and sneered at her as she passed. “I bet she’s been fooled.” “Yeah, I can’t believe someone would just walk in and buy two Beverly Hills houses!” “She’s definitely been tricked! This is hilarious; she probably thinks she’s made her first sale!” Nervously, Myrdal handed the gold card to the finance staff. The staff member took the card, inserted it into the reader, and the displayed balance left everyone speechless. “Two... the full payment for two houses has been cleared.” The staff was so surprised that they stuttered. Those who had been mocking Myrdal were now silent, their expressions priceless. The saleswoman who had introduced Myrdal to Joseph and Hecarim, named Beyoncé, immediately shoved Myrdal to the ground. She quickly signed her own name where the salesperson should have signed. “Sorry, Myrdal, I forgot to tell you. This sale is mine now, okay?” “It’s nothing personal. Remember, it was me who introduced those two to you. How could you have sold the houses without me?” Myrdal was furious. “What! You can’t just steal my sale!” “All the sales you’ve gotten were thanks to me. What are you talking about?” Beyoncé rolled her eyes and left with the sales papers and Joseph's information. Myrdal squatted on the floor, unable to stop crying. “Why... why does this always happen to me?” “I didn’t do anything wrong. I’m a good person!” Her pleas fell on deaf ears. The others merely glanced coldly at her before turning away. They all blamed Myrdal for the mishap, ignoring Beyoncé’s wrongdoing. Meanwhile, Beyoncé changed into a more revealing outfit and approached Joseph. “Hello, we’ve processed your house purchase.” “If you need anything, remember to contact me.” She handed Joseph her business card, even placing his hand on her chest. “If you have any thoughts, let me know right away.” To her surprise, Joseph remained calm and asked, “Where is Myrdal?” Taken aback, Beyoncé forced a smile. “Uh? Myrdal is in the backroom. What’s the matter?” “She’s my assistant. I was busy, so she attended to you.” “If you have something to say, I can pass the message.” Joseph’s expression darkened. “Don’t think I don’t know what’s happening here. You look down on me, don’t you?” “This is modern times; do you think I’m unaware?” “If you look down on me, don’t expect to make money from me.” “Also, the signature should be that woman’s, not yours.” “If it’s yours, I’m not buying.” Joseph threw the documents on the ground. Since he hadn’t signed, he could cancel the purchase anytime. Beyoncé was stunned. She thought Joseph was just a simple old man, easy to manipulate. She hastily said, “Please, don’t be upset. I’ll get Myrdal right away.” In the corner, Myrdal was still crying. Beyoncé rolled her eyes and approached her. “Myrdal, why are you crying? I was just joking. I’d never steal your sale.” “I told the gentleman, and these are your documents. Go talk to him.” “I won’t go.” Myrdal was confused by Beyoncé’s sudden change of heart. “You...” Is she plotting something? Or is this some trick? Myrdal thought, finding it hard to believe Beyoncé would be so nice. “Why would I lie to you?” “Go quickly.” Seeing the contract with Beyoncé’s name on it, Myrdal hesitated. “But your name is on it.” “What will you do?” “You know the commission goes to the one whose name is on the contract.” Beyoncé smiled. “Don’t worry. Though my name’s on it, you’ll get your share.” “Remember, you’re still on probation. If it were in your name, the company might fire you instead of paying.” “But since I signed, they’ll pay me, and I’ll give you your share.” Myrdal thought it made sense. Seeing Myrdal had bought it, Beyoncé smiled. “Alright, go now. Don’t keep the client waiting.” Hearing this, Myrdal hurried off. Joseph and Hecarim were relaxing in the lounge, feeling thrilled by the turn of events. They exchanged a knowing glance.
