Chapter 67: All Are Joseph

Luckily, Cardiff had already abandoned her; otherwise, who knows what might have happened to her! Fortunately, her brother was still safe. “From now on, no matter what Cardiff tells you, don't believe a word!” “That man is nothing but a scumbag. We need to stay away from him!” After hearing her brother's words, Jennifer nodded obediently. “Okay, I understand. Brother, I'll leave here, and you must take care of yourself too.” After hanging up the phone, Jennifer packed her luggage and set off on her journey to escape. Since Cardiff was the source of the trouble, being away from him should keep her safe, right? Meanwhile, Cardiff, who had just left, was calling his assistant Jessica. “Hello? Jessica, did you book the ticket I asked for?” Instead of Jessica's voice, he heard a different one. “Hello? Long time no see, brother.” It was Joseph! When did Joseph get hold of Jessica's phone?! Cardiff was instantly terrified. He couldn't imagine what would happen if Joseph actually caught him. He hung up the phone without saying a word and dashed out of the building, hailing a cab to the airport. “Driver, drive faster! I'm in a hurry!” “I'll pay you! Just drive faster!” To his shock, the driver's voice replied with Joseph's. “Cardiff, trying to run away now?” Cardiff looked towards the voice. Joseph was already there, waiting for him! In a state of extreme fear, Cardiff wet himself. “You... how did you find me?!” Cardiff looked at Joseph in terror, his body trembling uncontrollably. Joseph sneered. “Did you really think you could escape?” Despite the taxi still moving, Cardiff, driven by extreme fear, opened the car door. As he jumped out, he fell hard, scraping himself all over. “Ah—!” But Cardiff had no time to worry about his injuries. He quickly got up and ran forward. The street was full of cars. Without time to flee, Cardiff opened his suitcase full of cash. Bills flew into the air, causing the drivers to stop and collect the money. Cardiff hoped they would delay Joseph. Joseph calmly pushed through the crowd, his eyes cold as he approached Cardiff. Cardiff backed away desperately, pleading. “Joseph, please, spare me! I won't do it again!” Joseph remained unmoved. “It's too late. Your mistakes are unforgivable.” He grabbed Cardiff by the collar. At that moment, a group of people rushed over to pick up the money, allowing Cardiff to escape. Joseph didn't chase him. Instead, he stood there, watching Cardiff run away. Then, Joseph pulled off his face—revealing he wasn't Joseph but a soldier wearing a Joseph mask! Cardiff had no idea he was just a fish on the chopping block. He kept running. “Joseph, so what if you’re back! You still have to catch me first!” In his panic, Cardiff stumbled into an alley, hurting himself even more. But he didn't dare stop; he knew if he did, Joseph would surely catch him. After rushing out, he saw no one behind him. He carefully approached a tricycle. Surely a tricycle driver wouldn't be Joseph's man, right? But as he neared the tricycle, Joseph was standing there. “You... you!” “When did you get here?!” “Why are you everywhere?!” Cardiff turned to run, but another Joseph was behind him. “Who are you?!” “Why are there so many Josephs?!” “Get away from me!” In a panic, Cardiff ran into a dead-end alley, with no way out. He leaned against the wall, panting heavily. Cardiff looked desperately at the approaching Josephs. They sneered, moving closer. “You have nowhere to run, Cardiff.” “You’re finished.” “Don’t blame others; blame yourself.” Cardiff trembled, begging for mercy. “Please, spare me... I’ll do anything...” The leading Joseph interrupted. “Your fate is sealed.” He grabbed Cardiff's throat. Cardiff still refused to believe it. “I know there can't be this many Josephs in the world. You must be ghosts!” “Five years ago, you must have died, right?!” “So now you're all dead, right?!” “If you spare me, I'll burn incense for you!” “I'll give you anything you want!” To him, it was impossible for so many Josephs to appear at once. He thought they must be ghosts. Cardiff's words made the Josephs pause, looking surprised. “You're not entirely stupid, but you think our boss is dead? Whether you live or die is now certain.” One of the Josephs removed his mask, revealing his true face. Cardiff was shocked. “Joseph isn't dead?” Another soldier spoke coldly. “Knowing too much won’t do you any good.” Cardiff's eyes widened. “Who are you? Where is the real Joseph?” “Mr. Joseph is not someone you can meet easily.” The man sneered. “You only need to know that you’ve angered the wrong person. Now, die!” He tightened his grip on Cardiff’s throat. Cardiff struggled but was overpowered. Just then, a black car drove into the alley. The window rolled down, revealing Joseph’s stern face. “Mr. Joseph.”
