Chapter 47: FBI Involvement? Doesn't Matter!
At this moment, Lucy was already a bit angry with Joseph.
"Do you know what you're doing right now?!"
"I tolerated you fighting Tom and the others in Los Angeles."
"Because nothing major happened afterward."
"I also tolerated you hitting Sophie because Giselle supported you! But do you think anyone will support you now?"
"That man is with the FBI!"
Lucy spoke, tears streaming down her face.
She looked at Joseph with pleading eyes.
"Do you really want Tangna to see you being taken away?"
"Do you really want Tangna to witness you being arrested?"
"Don't you know how much Tangna misses you when you can't come home?"
Hearing this, Joseph's heart began to soften.
He spread his hands helplessly, showing his innocence.
"Do you think I haven't considered Tangna's feelings?"
"Of course, I have. I just think now is a critical time."
"If something goes wrong, it could be even more troublesome!"
Lucy was worried that if something happened to her husband, it would be a huge blow for her.
What would happen to Tangna then?
"I understand what you're saying."
"But there was no need to be so impulsive. What if something goes wrong?"
Seeing Lucy's concern, Joseph sighed.
"Do you think I want to act this way? It's just that he was being too arrogant!"
"So what if he was arrogant?"
Lucy rolled her eyes.
"I think his arrogance is his problem. Why do you have to do something foolish because of others?"
Joseph frowned, looking at her.
"Alright, alright, I was wrong. Is that better?"
Seeing his sincere apology, Lucy didn't pursue the matter further.
"Fine, just be careful."
Lucy then asked, "By the way, do you know why our daughter fainted?"
Joseph shook his head.
"No idea."
"Because you came home late, Lucy was worried about your safety, that's why!"
Hearing this, Joseph felt like his heart was being squeezed.
No wonder, no wonder!
It was his fault again.
He sighed deeply.
"I'm sorry, I won't do it again."
"But don't worry about today’s incident."
"I have good relations with the FBI."
"So no matter what happens, you don't have to be afraid."
"They will help."
Hearing this, Lucy was skeptical.
"You, you have good relations with the FBI? Really? You're not lying to me, right?"
Joseph spread his hands, indicating he was telling the truth.
"I'm not joking. I can't tell you who they are right now."
"Alright then."
Lucy found it odd but didn't ask further.
She thought for a moment.
"But…"
Joseph patted her shoulder.
"You're overthinking. Don’t worry about this. Focus on Tangna."
Nurse Kardashian had already moved Tangna to another room. It was said Nurse Kardashian was also highly skilled.
But Lucy suddenly realized she hadn't heard Tangna's voice for a long time.
"Wait, why haven't I heard Tangna?"
Joseph laughed.
"Do you think Tangna is the type to cry?"
"True!"
Lucy couldn't help but smile.
"Don't worry. Tangna will be safe. She wouldn't want you to worry."
Hearing this, Lucy smiled even more.
But soon, her smile faded, and she looked at Joseph with a different expression.
"How did you get here? I saw multiple shadows when you arrived, it was scary!"
"Who were they? FBI or some other forces?"
"Will they put Tangna in danger?"
Joseph shrugged.
"Don't worry about that. We’ll discuss it later."
Lucy wanted to say more, but seeing Joseph already heading upstairs quickly, she could only stomp her foot in frustration.
When they reached Tangna, they walked cautiously together.
Lucy wanted to continue asking but knew it wasn’t the right time.
Joseph opened the door to find Tangna sitting on the sofa reading a book.
Sure enough, she was out of danger and awake!
Nurse Kardashian truly was impressive!
"What are you reading so intently?" Joseph walked over.
"Dad? You're back!"
Tangna looked up joyfully, seeing Joseph beside her.
"Yes, Dad's back!"
Tangna smiled, her eyes lighting up.
"It must have been my imagination. I didn’t notice!"
"Your imagination?"
"Didn’t you say you were leaving?"
Joseph was surprised Tangna thought he would leave.
Joseph pretended to be angry.
"If you want me to leave, I’ll leave now."
He stood up, ready to leave.
But as soon as he stood up, a small hand grabbed his wrist.
"I won't let you go!"
Tangna glared at him, full of anger.
"Hmph, you promised to come back early, but now you're just back. I’m mad, Dad. I’ll make you stay!"
Joseph was stunned, feeling a warmth in his chest.
This feeling was so sweet.
Having a daughter was wonderful.
Looking at Tangna, Joseph suddenly hugged her tightly.
"Dad is so sorry!"
"I made you worry, didn’t I?"
"But I promise this won't happen again. I’ll come back on time."
Tangna looked up at him with her big, bright eyes.
"But what if someone troubles me?"
"Dad will make sure someone protects you and those bad guys disappear!"
Tangna's lips curved into a smile.
"Really?"
"Yes!"
"Pinky promise!"
"Okay!"
Joseph extended a finger.
Tangna hooked her pinky with his, sealing the promise.
"Dad, you have to keep your word. Otherwise, I won’t talk to you anymore!"
Joseph smiled and nodded.
"Of course, Dad keeps his promises."
"Good!"
