Chapter 28: Mom Was Bullied
"Hello? Felix? Get over here!"
Felix, the official in charge of commerce and industry in all of San Francisco, jumped out of bed as soon as he heard Joseph's voice. He knew that Joseph was the most terrifying person he had ever encountered and the one he couldn't deal with.
At that moment, Joseph could have done something more severe, but he didn't want to scare Tangna. He had no intention of revealing his true identity, fearing it would frighten her.
Felix, having just gotten out of bed, didn't waste any time. Since Joseph had called for him, he knew he had to go right away. Felix drove as fast as he could and arrived at the mall in less than ten minutes.
Upon arriving, he saw that Joseph and his group were being escorted out of the mall. "What are you doing?" Felix rushed up to them. "Do you even know who Joseph is?"
Felix didn't know exactly what Joseph did, but he knew that Joseph had the power to mobilize higher officials, which meant he wasn't an ordinary person. Who knew what could happen if Joseph got upset?
"You're late! Why don't you get lost?"
Joseph's words left everyone in shock. Felix was a high-ranking local official, overseeing the entire mall, yet Joseph treated him as if he were just a common person.
Felix was stunned, not expecting Joseph to be so angry. As he was about to ask if there was a problem, he saw the fierce look in Joseph's eyes and shivered. Felix quickly took a few steps back, deciding it was best not to linger.
Joseph wasn't going to let him off that easily. "I heard you're the official in charge here, right?"
Though Felix had arrived late, Joseph wasn't going to just let it go. "You came late. Aren't you going to explain yourself?"
Felix looked at Joseph, feeling weak in the knees. This person was clearly not someone to be trifled with.
"Yes," Felix replied cautiously. "I shouldn't have come so late. I should have arranged for help on the way here. Mr. Joseph, it's all my fault..."
"Good!" Joseph's praise sent shivers down Felix's spine, but he didn't dare disagree. His life could be at stake if Joseph got angry.
The mall staff were all bewildered. Why was Felix, such an important official, so submissive to Joseph, who seemed like an ordinary person? They exchanged puzzled looks, wondering if Joseph had some hidden power.
The staff who had disrespected Joseph began to slap themselves, apologizing profusely.
"It's all my fault! I'm sorry!"
"Forgive me!"
Joseph ignored the idiots. If not for Tangna, these people would have been dead many times over. He didn't want Tangna to witness any bloody scenes.
Listening to their apologies, Joseph found it amusing. These people were truly brainless. If not for Tangna, they would have died multiple times by now. Joseph didn't want to waste any more time on them.
"Enough," Joseph waved at Felix. "Take my daughter back inside. I want to buy her a lot of clothes."
Felix nodded eagerly. "Of course, whatever you want."
Once outside, Tangna excitedly said to Joseph, "Daddy, you're amazing! You're so cool! If Mom were like this, would she be happier?"
Joseph was taken aback. "Is Mom often bullied like this?"
Wanting to know more about Lucy, Joseph asked.
Tangna nodded. "Yes, Mom is often bullied!"
Hearing this, Joseph's anger surged. How could anyone dare to bully the woman he cherished above all?
He squinted his eyes. "Don't worry, Tangna. Now that Daddy is back, no one will bully Mom anymore! As long as I'm here, Mom will never be bullied!"
Tangna smiled and nodded. "Okay, Daddy!"
At that moment, Felix hurried over to speak with Joseph.
Joseph glanced at him and asked coldly, "Have you educated your subordinates properly?"
"Yes, absolutely!" Felix nodded frantically.
Joseph nodded slightly. "Good. Now take my daughter inside. I want to buy her many, many clothes."
Felix quickly nodded in agreement. "Of course, of course. You can have anything you want!"
