Chapter 198: Drugged
Seeing how concerned Lucy was for him, Joseph felt a warm feeling in his heart. He gently hugged Lucy’s shoulders and said, "It’s nothing, you don’t need to worry. It’s just some personal business."
Lucy finally felt relieved and continued eating. Joseph watched her while eating his own food. Noticing a bit of oil on the corner of her mouth, he couldn’t resist leaning forward to wipe it off for her.
“You’re still so cute,” he said, planting a light kiss on her cheek.
Lucy’s eyes widened, and her face turned a bright shade of red as she playfully smacked his hand. “You’re getting more and more improper, aren’t you?”
Lucy’s coquettish demeanor made Joseph chuckle. His smile was warm and full of affection. “Alright, alright, don’t be mad. I won’t do it again.”
Lucy huffed, “You better not, or I’ll break up with you.”
She lowered her head to look at the menu again, while Joseph turned his attention to Tangna. “Tangna, have you eaten yet?”
Tangna shook her head. “Not yet.”
Seeing how well-behaved she was, Joseph couldn’t help but affectionately pinch her nose. “Such a good girl.”
Tangna blinked her eyes and smiled sweetly at Joseph. “I’m very obedient.”
She smiled so happily, but in the next moment, Lucy noticed something was off. “Tangna, why are you still eating?! Didn’t I tell you not to?”
Lucy looked at her with concern, but Joseph just smiled and said, “It’s okay, Tangna loves sweets, and she has a small appetite. Let her have some.”
Hearing this, Lucy could only agree. “Alright then.”
After all, it was her husband’s decision, and there wasn’t much she could do about it. But soon, Tangna finished all the sweets, even drinking all the sweet soup.
Watching her eat, Joseph was a bit surprised. Could it be that Tangna had developed a sweet tooth? But he didn’t think too much of it and just smiled, saying, “Eat slowly.”
Tangna nodded. “It’s delicious!”
Joseph smiled gently and said no more. Lucy noticed Joseph’s mood and chose not to pry.
After returning to Dr. Mundo, Joseph continued discussing the situation with them. “Do you remember the Gun God?”
Mundo nodded. When Joseph mentioned him earlier, he had already started thinking about who the Gun God might be.
“The Gun God is very skilled, a hero even, capable of remarkable feats like hitting a target from miles away. But why are you bringing him up now?”
“Because he once treated me with acupuncture.”
Listening to Joseph’s story, Mundo almost laughed out loud. “They even took you for a client? Hahaha!”
After a while, Joseph looked up at him. “Do you think the Gun God can help my baby?”
“I can’t be sure…” Joseph responded calmly, “I’ll call the Gun God later and ask. Then I’ll go find Xinjiekka. I’m leaving my daughter and wife in your care.”
Dr. Mundo nodded in agreement. "Alright."
Suddenly, Joseph heard a strange sound nearby. “Excuse me, ma’am, may I have a drink with you?” The voice was directed at Lucy.
The man immediately struck Joseph as a sleazy character, his gaze lingering on Lucy as he spoke.
Lucy responded coolly, “It’s not appropriate. How about I offer you a cup of tea instead?”
“We’re drinking alcohol, and you’re offering tea? Are you even human?! That’s just insincere!”
Joseph walked over immediately. Lucy, feeling awkward, looked to Joseph for help, but Dr. Mundo blurted out, “There’s something in that drink; it’s drugged.”
The man’s face turned furious. “What did you say?! What do you mean by that?!”
Seeing the man’s rudeness towards Dr. Mundo, Joseph naturally stepped in. He swiftly kicked the man in the stomach, sending him flying backward. Dr. Mundo was stunned by Joseph’s quick action.
“You’re quite something! I didn’t even get a chance to act, and you’ve already knocked him down!” Joseph replied coldly, “These people are just bad news.”
He started to approach the man again, but Lucy quickly grabbed his arm. “What are you doing?”
“I’m going to teach them a lesson,” he said as he continued to walk towards the man.
Seeing Joseph’s intimidating demeanor, the man grew frightened. “Brother, don’t get the wrong idea. I made a mistake. I shouldn’t have been rude to your wife.”
Joseph scoffed, “You knew she was my wife, and you still dared to make a move? You’re not worthy!”
With that, he delivered another hard kick, knocking the man to the ground.
Joseph grabbed the man by the hair and began pummeling him mercilessly, leaving the man wailing in pain. Lucy helplessly walked over and pulled him away.
“Joseph, that’s enough. I don’t even know this guy.”
“If you keep this up, they’ll come looking for revenge later. It’ll just cause more trouble!”
Joseph just laughed coldly. “Who dares to mess with me? I’d like to see them try.”
With that, he started to move towards the man again. Lucy had no choice but to follow him.
“Joseph, please let me go this time. I’m begging you!”
Joseph delivered another punch, knocking the man to the ground. “Joseph, that’s enough!”
Finally, Joseph stopped. He reached into the man’s pocket and pulled out a packet of white powder.
“This is your evidence, isn’t it?”
He had planned to let the man go, but the man clearly underestimated Joseph, thinking nothing would come of it. When his comrades saw him getting beaten, they all rushed over, planning to gang up on Joseph.
“Joseph, be careful!” Joseph noticed the hostile group and dragged the drugged man outside.
“Stay inside,” he told Lucy and Tangna, not wanting them to see what he was about to do.
Once outside, the drugged man’s accomplices surrounded them. Joseph raised an eyebrow at them.
“Are you all going to attack together?”
One of the men sneered, “Do you even have any shame? You think you’re worth us ganging up on you?”
“Yeah, with your skills, if we all went at you, you wouldn’t stand a chance!”
Joseph smiled faintly and pulled out a gun from his jacket. He raised it, pointing it at the sky, and pulled the trigger.
Bang! Bang! Bang!
The three gunshots echoed, shattering the tense atmosphere, leaving the men trembling in fear. One of them was so scared, he wet his pants.
