Chapter 140: Put On the Mask and Teach You a Lesson
"What's your name, young man... I really must thank you."
Joseph wanted so badly to tell the old man his real name, but he knew he couldn’t reveal his identity right now.
"I... I can't tell you that yet."
If they found out he was Joseph, who knows if his family might suffer because of him?
His grandfather looked at Joseph, eyes filled with nostalgia.
"Ah, I used to have a beloved grandson. If he were still alive, he might be about your age now."
"My grandson was like you, always standing up for what's right. But now..."
"Sir, please don’t be sad."
The old man nodded, understanding.
"Yes, I know you are skilled. But you must have your own matters to attend to. I don't know how to thank you, so when you’re done with your affairs, just tell me what you’d like to eat or drink. I'll have my family prepare it for you."
Joseph nodded.
"I have some things to take care of, so I'll be going now. Take care of yourself, sir."
"Go ahead."
Watching Joseph's retreating figure, the old man sighed quietly. He realized he had to rely on his own strength from now on.
After leaving his grandfather’s hospital room, Joseph called over a few security guards.
"Hey, you guys come here."
"Help me take care of the patient. Make sure no one bullies him. If you do a good job, I’ll pay you handsomely."
"If you fail, I’ll hold you accountable."
He finished speaking and handed out several hundred-dollar bills.
The guards saw the money and nodded eagerly.
"I’ll do it!"
"Just taking care of an old man? I’m on it!"
After arranging for his grandfather's care, Joseph went to find Nami.
He arrived at Nami’s hospital room but found it empty.
"Where is my sister?"
Joseph squinted, searching for a nurse.
"The patient in that room, Nami—where is she?"
"Oh, she went out to buy some water."
"How long ago?"
"I’m not sure, it’s been quite a while."
Hearing this, Joseph was displeased.
He demanded, "She's still a patient! She's been gone for so long, and you didn’t even check what’s happening?"
Having said that, Joseph rushed out.
Who knows if his sister was in danger!
Joseph dashed outside, only to find the area deserted, with no sign of his sister.
Joseph frowned, his expression darkening.
How could his sister just disappear?
Joseph immediately called Nami, but all he heard was the cold message that her phone was turned off.
Damn it!
Joseph gritted his teeth and prepared to leave the hospital to investigate Nami's whereabouts.
Just as he was about to leave, a sudden voice caught his attention.
"I don’t know you, please let me go!"
"Nami, just behave, and I won't have to force you!"
Joseph saw Nami struggling with a man not far away. He sprinted over and separated the two.
He glared at the man.
"Who the hell are you? Do you even know who she is?"
The man laughed at Joseph's words.
"What does it matter who she is? I’ve taken a liking to her, that’s all."
With that, the man lunged at Nami again.
Nami quickly sought refuge in Joseph's arms.
"Please help me!"
The man sneered at Joseph.
"I’m telling you, you’d better stay away from this woman. She belongs to me!"
Joseph ignored him and asked Nami softly, "Who is he?"
Nami, trembling, replied, "You know, ever since the Kerry family started pressuring our family, a lot of people have been bullying me. This Lucien is one of them. He’s been looking for chances to harass me, and I almost got hurt by him last time!"
Lucien’s gaze was fixed on Nami’s chest.
"No matter who you bring, it’s useless. And who is this random guy? Nami, why not just listen to me and come home with me?"
"Come on, make me happy, and I’ll—"
Joseph had had enough. He put on his golden mask.
Lucien's lackeys noticed Joseph's strange behavior and moved in to attack.
Joseph kicked Lucien away, then punched him in the stomach, leaving Lucien writhing in pain on the ground.
"Scum like you need a beating. Today, I'll teach you a lesson!"
Joseph advanced on him, grabbing Lucien by the hair and slamming his head into the ground, drawing blood.
"Ah!"
"Ah!"
The onlookers couldn’t help but scream in horror.
Joseph pummeled Lucien, leaving him bruised and swollen.
Finally, Joseph stopped his assault.
Lucien’s lackeys realized their boss was being beaten up, and they couldn’t just stand by. So they grabbed knives and charged at Joseph.
Joseph glared at them coldly.
"Looking for death!"
With a sneer, he grabbed the first man to rush him.
He stomped on the man's abdomen, knocking him to the ground.
Seeing this, the others halted and then turned to flee.
Joseph laughed mockingly.
These idiots thought I was just bluffing.
Watching them run, Joseph chuckled and drew his gun from his waist.
Bang! Bang! Bang!
Three shots rang out, and three bullets pierced their skulls.
"Ah!"
The men fell, crying out in agony.
Joseph snorted, then holstered his gun.
He walked over to Lucien, lying on the ground, and gave him a hard kick.
"Bastard."
After saying that, Joseph landed punch after punch on Lucien.
"Ah! I’m sorry, spare me, I was wrong!"
Hearing Lucien’s pleas, Joseph didn’t stop.
"Spare you? Hmph, when you threatened Nami, did you ever think this day would come?"
"I was wrong, please forgive me!"
Hearing Lucien’s words, Joseph stomped on his face.
