The next morning, when Megan opened her eyes, Tristan was already staring at her intently.
The soft golden sunlight poured over his face, giving him an almost unreal serenity—as if he had stepped right out of a dream.
He smiled gently. "Morning, babe."
Megan smiled back, but the moment she turned her head, she saw his injured shoulder exposed and the gauze tinged with dried blood. The wound must've started to scab by now.
She suddenly sat up and tried to climb over him to grab the first-aid kit—but Tristan pulled her right into his chest.
"Stop moving, I'll get it myself," she protested.
He chuckled, holding her close with one arm wrapped around her waist, while the other slipped upward along her leg.
His eyes darkened as they locked onto hers, and Megan swallowed hard. "I think your wound's healing. Let me grab some antiseptic to clean it."
Tristan either didn't hear or pretended not to, his warm hand slowly caressing her thigh.
