Chapter 48 An Offer for a Ride Home
Tristan regained his senses, taking his hands out of the pockets of his white coat, changing the topic casually.
"You haven't fully recovered. You should go home and get some rest." He paused, then added, "An accidental miscarriage takes a heavy toll on the body. Don't take it lightly."
Cressida froze before she nodded. "I got it. Thank you again for today."
"I'll give you a ride home," Tristan offered.
"No need. I'll just hail a cab." Cressida turned him down right away. She didn't wish to get any more involved with anybody while her days were numbered.
Tristan didn't insist, either. He just watched as she walked to the curb and got into a cab. Soon, the cab merged into traffic and disappeared.
He stood in place until the taillights had completely vanished before he turned around and walked in the opposite direction.

Cressida returned to her rented apartment. As soon as she opened the door, she was welcomed by the aroma of food.
Daphne had an apron on, and she was walking
