Chapter 1170
"Spit it out!" Wyatt crouched down, glaring at Zarian.
Zarian spat at him, forcing Wyatt to dodge swiftly.
"Still not cooperating, huh? Fine, guess I'll just keep hitting you!" Wyatt raised the celestial lion leg bone and unleashed another flurry of attacks.
Zarian whimpered, but Wyatt didn't let up, swinging the bone like a club.
"I'm done with you!" the cub roared, shaking off the blows and lunging at Wyatt.
It was a valiant attempt, but another swing of the celestial lion leg bone sent the cub sprawling once again. Wyatt was clearly getting more comfortable using the weapon.
This time, the cub didn't fight back. It lay on the ground, panting heavily, too battered to resist.
"You're lucky I'm not at my full power! Give me two more years, and I'd have you eating dirt!" Zarian snarled, its golden light flickering faintly.
"I don't need two years—I'll have you eating dirt now!" Wyatt quipped. With a quick swing, he knocked out one of the cub's front teeth.
"Why are you so stubborn? What is Tamara to you, your old flame?" Wyatt asked, exasperated.
"Are you insane?" It shot him a glare. "If I tell you everything, you'll just kill me afterward! I'm not stupid. You're the type to kill the donkey after the millstone's done grinding."
Wyatt froze, Zarian's words hitting a little too close to home. His face flushed with guilt—he couldn't deny the accusation.
Zarian wasn't just strong. It was cunning and intelligent. It had played its cards perfectly, baiting Wyatt with one shocking detail before clamming up.
Wyatt's face flushed as Zarian hit a nerve, leaving him slightly embarrassed.
At the same time, he was surprised—this cub was definitely no ordinary beast. It was cunning, almost like it had developed human-like intelligence.
It had dangled a single tantalizing piece of information to spark his curiosity, then stubbornly refused to say another word.
Killing it wasn't really an option either, not when he was so eager to learn more about Tamara. Not because he was interested in Tamara herself but because of her celestial lion body and the dazzling array of priceless artifacts she possessed.
Still, Wyatt wasn't the kind of person to let a cub toy with him.
"Well, if you won't talk, I guess I'll just start with one of your legs for dinner," Wyatt said casually, grabbing Zarian's right hind leg as if preparing to roast it.
"Ahhh! You beast! You psycho! Help!" Zarian shrieked, wriggling desperately. It wasn't faking anymore—it genuinely feared becoming a meal.
Before Wyatt could start "cooking," he suddenly froze. A woman's faint cry for help reached his ears, making him stop mid-motion.
He perked up, recognizing the voice. He was stunned to hear Estelle.
The cry was faint but distinct. It sounded like it was coming from the base of the mountain.
"Alright, dumb cub. You get a reprieve. We're heading down," Wyatt said, leaping onto Zarian's back.
"You're using me as a mount now? You're unbelievable!" Zarian grumbled under its breath, cursing Wyatt's entire ancestry.
But it didn't dare protest further. Reluctantly, it hobbled down the mountain, carrying Wyatt on its back.
As they descended, whispers and gasps rippled through the onlookers.
"Look! He's coming down!"
"That's a relic beast—look at that golden glow! He tamed it! He made it a mount!"
"This guy is insane. He turned an ancient relic into his personal ride!"
"Jonas! I want to come with you!"
Wyatt caught snippets of the chatter, smirking at the first few comments before freezing in confusion. Jonas? Who was that?
He brushed off the strange name and pressed onward, his focus locked on the source of the earlier cry.
"Your brother's in trouble—he's down at the base of the mountain, fighting someone," a human martial artist ran up to inform him.
"My... brother?" Wyatt echoed, dumbfounded.
"Yeah! He's fighting a crewcut guy. His hand's all swollen from punching him. You should check it out!" the man insisted.
"Jonas, your little brother even picked out a sister-in-law for you—she's got killer legs!" another chimed in.
The group of martial artists crowded around, eagerly feeding Wyatt bits of information in hopes of earning his favor.
Still utterly confused, Wyatt urged Zarian to move faster. As they approached the scene, his eyes immediately locked onto Estelle. She was pinned down by a group of martial artists struggling against their grip.
