Interrogation

After searching the area around the border and not finding any signs of Jonathan or Eleanor, the others went back to Eleanor’s pack. They brought Mia back with them, determined to get the truth out of her before she had to pay for what she had done. They detained her in an interrogation room and Ethan and Miller teamed up against her first. “Has she said anything?” Henry asked when Ethan left the room later. He had been busy organising defence for Darkfall and hadn’t managed to watch the interrogation. Ethan shook his head. “Not yet. She maintains that she does not know where Jonathan took Eleanor.” Henry opened the door and walked into the room. Mia was sitting on one side of the table in the room. The room was like a concrete box with no openings once the door was closed. Mia looked up when Henry walked in, but only for a moment. “You are still not talking, huh?” Henry asked, standing on the other side of the table. “How much longer do you think you’ll be alive if you don’t talk? Or do you think you are alive because we love looking at your face so much?” “You’ll kill me either way,” Mia said in a quiet voice. Henry couldn’t tell whether it was because of her facial injuries or because she was trying to come off as innocent. If it was the latter, she would have better chances trying it out on a deaf person. Henry placed his hands on the table and leaned forward. “You are right. You won’t come out of this alive. But it can be a quick death, or a slow torturous one. It all depends on whether or not you speak up and stop wasting our time.” He didn’t actually think she was going to get a quick death either way, but she did not need to know that. All he wanted was information. Once he knew where to find Eleanor, the others could skin her alive for all he cared. She swallowed and looked up at him. “I don’t know anything. I don’t even know where Jonathan’s place is. He doesn’t reveal his whereabouts to just anyone.” Henry arched a brow. “So he sends just anyone to infiltrate other packs and blow up werewolf events?” Mia said nothing. Henry’s eyes narrowed. “You must be one of his best, right? He wouldn’t send some nobody to carry out such an important mission. So you must know where his pack is. I bet you even know all his plans.” “I’ve told you, I don’t know anything,” she claimed. Henry leaned farther across the table, his huge body towering over her. “Where is Eleanor?” he grit out. Mia’s hands balled into fists as she tried to not show her fear. But it was hard not to look as scared as she felt when her entire body was trembling with fear. The look in Henry’s eyes was downright murderous. He looked a second away from tearing her head off with his bare hands. His eyes had also turned golden, as if his wolf was dying to tear her to pieces. He won’t kill me, she chanted in her mind. Knowing that was the only thing that kept her from blurting out the truth to save herself. No matter how angry he was, he wouldn’t kill her. Not as long as he had no idea where Eleanor was. So she wasn’t going to give in to fear and ruin everything she had worked so hard for until that point. She had disappointed Jonathan enough. She had to endure this and get away. Because if she didn’t, they would kill her without a doubt. “I’m not going to ask nicely again,” Henry said, straightening and walking around the table. He came to stand right beside her chair. “Where is she? Where did he take her?” Her lips trembled as she repeated the words she had said so many times already. “I…I don’t know. I swear I–” Henry banged his hand on the table, causing her to jump in her seat. He gripped the back of her chair, but before he could do anything, the door swung open. “Get away from her,” Thomas said as he walked into the room. “I’ll talk to her.” Henry didn’t move an inch. Thomas moved around the table to the other side of Mia’s chair. Mia looked up at him, her eyes welling with tears. Henry finally straightened and looked at Thomas. “You have one hour. If she doesn’t tell the truth, I’ll be back, and I won’t leave until she talks.” He didn’t wait for a response as he turned away. He opened the door and left the room, slamming it shut with a bang. He went into the observation room located next to the interrogation room. There was a one-way window in the wall that allowed him to see into the room. The moment the door closed behind Henry, Mia rose from her chair and threw herself at Thomas. She wrapped her arms around him and pressed her head to his chest, crying. “I’m so happy to see you,” she cried. “I thought I would never see you again. You have no idea what I’ve been through.” Thomas reached for her arms and pulled them off him forcefully. Mia looked up at him, her teary eyes blinking. “Will you get me out of here? I haven’t eaten or slept well for days. I’m worried about our baby. What if something happens to him?” Thomas gave her a hard look. For the first time, her tears did not move him. “Why did you betray me?” he asked coldly.
