Chapter 8
At first, Sebastian found Roxanne's jinxing skill amusing and intriguing. He would even spend his valuable time studying it. But he grew to dislike it when she kept using her jinxing skill on Liana.
That was something Sebastian could not tolerate. Liana was his bottom line. So, he began to suppress her and forbid her from using it.
Now that he had traveled all this way to find her, Roxanne figured it had a lot to do with guilt over the engagement party.
She was using his vulnerable spot to threaten him. She didn't believe he'd stay persistent, especially when Liana was his bottom line.
Roxanne glanced at him and saw the anger simmering in his eyes.
A sneer tugged at her lips. At the same time, bitterness welled up inside her. Liana was indeed the most important person to him.
Roxanne turned and left. She had her emotions under control.
She and Sebastian had broken up. From now on, he and Liana had nothing to do with her.
Just as she reached the door, her feet suddenly left the ground. Sebastian had thrown her over his shoulder.
She let out a startled scream. "Sebastian, what are you doing? Put me down!"
Sebastian spanked her with a cold expression. "Don't move!"
Roxanne was humiliated and furious.
The commotion drew everyone's attention in the restaurant.
Sebastian was good-looking. Otherwise, she wouldn't have fallen for him at first sight and pursued him so relentlessly. He also exuded an air of superiority, making it obvious he wasn't an ordinary person.
The onlookers quickly pieced together their own story. It seemed that she was running, and he was chasing. She had nowhere left to escape.
Sebastian carried her straight to the car.
She tried to get out, but the doors were locked. She glared at him. "What do you want?"
Sebastian didn't answer her question. He simply ordered the driver, "Drive."
The car started moving. Roxanne was so furious she could barely breathe.
Sebastian was always so self-centered, never explaining or resolving things.
If only her jinxing skill worked on him, she would have cursed him into a car accident already.
But Sebastian knew this well and used this weakness against her. She smacked her own forehead in frustration. It was her fault for loving him so much in the past, exposing all her vulnerabilities to him.
She couldn't curse the ones she loved. Clearly, Sebastian was someone she had loved deeply. She wasn't sure if she loved him now or not. But she couldn't curse the one she once loved, either.
Inside the car, they both sat in silence. Each settled on their own side.
If he didn't speak, she wouldn't, either.
Sebastian curled his fingers.
If this had been before, Roxanne would have started chattering when he was upset and refused to talk. She'd crack jokes, find topics, and do anything to make him laugh. She never stopped until he was no longer upset.
The car headed toward the airport. It was a 90-minute drive.
Neither of them said a word the entire way. Roxanne even closed her eyes, resting as if he didn't exist.
As time passed, the tension in the car grew. Even the driver, Aiden Crawford, was practically trembling.
Those familiar with Sebastian knew that he was truly angry. This was the calm before the storm.
The car arrived at the airport.
Roxanne realized that Sebastian likely intended to take her back to Valoria. She knew that whatever he planned to do, she couldn't stop it. She didn't even struggle anymore. When she closed her eyes earlier in the car to rest, she had already come to terms with it.
Sebastian had found her so quickly because of Hayes Group's extensive data tracking. As long as she was under surveillance and used her ID card, he could locate all her information.
She had been so reckless before because she never expected Sebastian to come after her. She had assumed that Cloudia City was the furthest he'd go. Yet, he had chased her all the way to Floral City.
She couldn't understand him now.
What was he thinking? Did he like her? Did he regret it?
It was impossible.
To Sebastian, she was just a trivial person in his life. She concluded that Sebastian must have lost his damn mind.
He had hired a private jet. He held her hand, forcefully leading her to the plane.
The plane was luxurious, complete with two flight attendants assigned to serve them.
Roxanne didn't have time to admire the surroundings. She went straight to the bed on the plane and lay down to rest. She had drained herself too much in the past seven years. Now, she wouldn't waste her energy anymore.
Since she couldn't fight him, she'd just follow him back to Valoria.
To her, their relationship had ended. It was completely over.
The cold indifference Roxanne showed from the car ride to now unsettled Sebastian. This was something that had never happened in the past seven years.
To him, Roxanne had always been a little sun who was constantly radiating warmth and energy. But this time, she was acting too cold toward him.
He watched her lying there with her eyes closed. His anger surged, but he swallowed it down. A helpless smile appeared on his face.
She had come to the Hayes family at 16 years old, confessed to him at 18 years old, and became his woman at 20 years old. She was only 23 years old now. Why was he even bothering to argue with a kid?
Sebastian waved his hand and sent the flight attendants to their work area.
He then lay down on the bed as well, wrapping his arms around her from behind. His hand started to wander.
Roxanne jolted awake and instinctively slapped him across the face. "Pervert!"
Sebastian felt the hot sting on his cheek. This was the first time in 28 years that he had been slapped and called a pervert.
His face was dark as he glared at her. An icy air radiated from him.
"I'm the pervert? Who was the one who drugged me and climbed into my bed? Isn't that what you wanted?"
At the mention of that incident, all the anger that Roxanne had been suppressing burst out.
She pointed at Sebastian's nose. "Sebastian, I used to like you, but I still have some dignity. I would never drug you! Do you really think you're so irresistible that I'd want to sleep with you? Don't you even know how bad you are in bed?"
