Chapter 1248
Xavier was scheduled for an IV in the afternoon, so he was free the whole morning. The gloomy weather made the ward feel stifling.
"Why don't we take a walk in the garden?" Lily suggested.
"Sure," he said, wiping his fingers with a tissue.
His eyes narrowed as he looked over at Lily. Just moments earlier, he'd already noticed that she had something on her mind.
She helped him into the wheelchair and wheeled him out, unaware that her frustration was written all over her face.
There was a small garden behind the hospital. A few flower beds lined the wide green lawn, and there were rows of benches. Behind the benches stood a line of weeping willows, offering a place to rest and block the wind.
Lily locked the wheelchair in place, then sat on one of the benches. Sunlight filtered through the branches in scattered patches, casting a gentle glow on them.
