.Ryder kept quiet. He could see that even though she said that she did not care, she did actually care a lot. Scarlett was always trying to put on a tough front in front of others but she was actually quite fragile. She was someone who needs love..... "No matter what Scarlett, you'll always have me on your side" Ryder sand and hugged her. .******* Ryder was called to his father's office as soon as he got to work that day. "Dad" Ryder called as soon as he entered the office. Peter motioned for Ryder to sit down. Then he dropped the filles in his hand. "I suppose you know that your mother is back now right?" Peter asked. Ryder knew that it was a rhetorical question. He had seen the news. Of course, he also knew that he met his mother. "Yes, she came to find me yesterday" Ryder said. There wasn't anything to hide anyway. Anyway,he wanted to find out why his mother had come back. He would take any clues that he can find. Who knows if his father knows something? "About that woman....you don't really have something with her so you?" Peter asked. Ryder knew that his father was asking about Mira. His father knew Mira well. The both of them were quite close then.... "Of course not! Actually dad, Scarlett and I...we are not going to get a divorce anymore" Ryder said. Back then, the both of them weren't always at home at the same time. Even when they were home, the spent most of thier time either yelling at each other or ignoring each other. It was clear that they did Joe get along well. Maybe the divorce was a good thing. "Yes. You don't need to worry about me. The divorce was bound to happen sooner or later anyway" Peter said . He could tell what was going on in Ryder's mind. Anyway,the divorce has been delayed for ten years. It was time to put an end to it. "Besides asking for the divorce, is there anything else that you found out from her?" Ryder asked. "What do you mean?" Peter could tell that his son was getting at something here. Did he figure out something about Kate? It really wasn't his intention to bad mouth his son's mother but he just did not want Ryder to be tricked by that shrewd woman. It seemed that Ryder could tell for himself now that something was wrong somewhere. "Well, I just think that the timing is quite strange. She hasn't come back for a whole ten years, why will she suddenly miss me and show up now? It just doesn't make any sense at all. I think that there's something wrong. And she suddenly shows up with Mira...Mira isn't smart enough to think of so many tricks but mom certainly is. Yesterday, I could tell that she was trying to match make me and Mira. Mira is being used and she probably doesn't even realize it just yet. I need to know what her aim for coming back this time is. What does she want from me and Mira? What kind of game is she playing at?" Ryder asked. He was disappointed, to think that his mother only thought of him when she wanted to use him for something. It would really be too much for anyone else to deal with. Peter sighed. He was happy that his son was smart enough to see this for himself. He won't get tricked by that woman. "Well, I didn't say anything just yet because I don't want it to seem like I'm bad mouthing your mom in front of you but it's really strange that she came back at this time. It only means that she wants something from you. I'm sorry to say but you know that your mother has never really cared about you before. She didn't care about you ten years ago and she won't start caring now. I know that woman well enough to know that. She is definitely back for a reason. I don't know if this will help but you should know that the company that she set up in country F is facing bankruptcy. It's about to close down" Peter said. They needed to figure out that woman's plan if they wanted to deal with her. They must not let themselves get led by the nose. Ryder was right. They were all probably chess pieces on her chess board. It turns that she is facing sure bankruptcy if she doesn't get an investment from some big company soon" Peter said. Ryder sat there thinking. He could understand if it his mother tried to get the investment from him. That would be the easiest way. "Do you think that she's trying to get the investment from us?" Ryder asked. "No. I don't think so. She won't try to get it from us. That woman hates me a lot and she won't even touch anything that's mine. I know that well. I think she has some other plan. I just don't know what it is" Peter said. Ryder nodded his head. She won't need to involve Mira if she wanted to get investment from him. In fact, it would be best to go through Scarlett if Kate wants to get to him. Ryder was clear on the fact that his mother did not care who his partner was as long as she could get benefits from him. She was someone who valued the benefits that she could get above everything else. So what does she want? Why is she even using Mira? "Dad, I'll have to figure out what her plan is. He was trying to find out who it was when Ryder got in. He had just finished talking to someone from the media whom he knew. He was surprised with the name that he got. How could she do this? What does she want? "How can this be?" Matt muttered. "What is it?" Ryder asked. "I Found out the person who's been fueling the news of your scandal with Mira. I thought that it was strange. I've been trying to control it but no matter what, it's always on the top trending searches. I just found out who's doing it...." Matt said. He paused after he said that. He did not know how Ryder was going to react to this "Do you want to know who it is?" Matt asked. Ryder gave Matt a look that asked, "are you alright?". Actually, he had already gussed who who was behind it. This would only be a confirmation of his guess. "It's your mother. Kate" Matt said. Ryder sighed. It was just as he guessed. Why is she doing this? What does she really want? She doesn't even think twice about using her own son. That woman really is ruthless. "What? Aren't you suprised?" Matt asked when he was the nonchalant look on Ryder's face. "What's there to be surprised about? I already gussed it since yesterday. You know that I met with her right? She was acting strange. It turns out that she is the one. I just want to know what she wants from doing all of this. What is she trying to gain from using me?" Ryder asked. Matt did not know what his friend was talking about at all so he had to ask him. "What are you talking about? What did you talk about with your mom when you met her yesterday? And how come Mira was there yesterday too?" Matt asked. He knew that Ryder's mother had been gone for ten years. He too thought that it was strange that she was suddenly back but he wasn't the person involved so they were some things that he could not see. "Yesterday, she said that she wanted to talk to me. We haven't seen each other in ten years. I thought that it was strange that my mom would suddenly remember the fact that she has a son. She hasn't cared about me in ten years. Why does she suddenly care about me? Well, I well went with her. And Mira was there. She said that Mira's mother was her friend before she passed away. But she was clearly trying to set me up with Mira. Why will she do something like that? What is her goal? She is definitely the one spreading the news about me and Mira's "relationship"." Ryder suddenly started talking again, "My dad said that the company they my mom set up in country F is facing bankruptcy. And she needs to get investment from a major company. But if she needs investment, she can come to me. Why does she need to go to Mira?" Ryder asked. Matt suddenly thought of something. "you said that her Company is in country F right?" "Yes" "Heh...then it all makes sense now. You probably don't know but Mira's father has a lot of influence in country F. He brought the headquarters of his company back to the company a few months ago but he still has a lot of influence and companies in country F.
