A Daring Bet (2) Scarlett was comforted when she heard Ryder being yelled at. Her mood that had been terrible since yesterday was suddenly lifted She said, "I was just unlucky to meet someone like this. How are we going to deal with this now?" She asked. Peter looked from Scarlett to Ryder. No matter how much he thought about it, there really wasn't a way. In that split second, he made a decision. "The both of you will get married!" He said. Scarlett and Ryder got up at once. "What?!" They both yelled at the same time. Never in thier life did they think that the matter was going to blow up like this. What did he mean by getting Married? Scarlett was angry? She did not want to have anything to do with this person after today, so why is she suddenly getting married? Does this even make any sense? She could not accept it. She could not accept it at all! "I don't want to get married to this person!" Scarlett said. There was no way she was going to compromise on this. Besides, getting married isn't even on her agenda. "Do you think that I want to?" Ryder asked her. He turned to his father. "Dad...I know that I was wrong....I shouldn't have done what I did... but you really don't expect me to get married like this right? I don't want to. I really don't want to" he said. This is really too much. Matt thought too that it definitely won't be possible. There was no way that this two people could get married. He had to speak up "Sir ..I don't think that having them get married is a good idea. Why don't we think of other ways to resolve this? Getting Married....." Matt stoped there. He did not want to think about the things that would happen if the both of them were to get married to each other. Peter sighed and looked at Matt. He really did not want things to get to this though but he really did not have a choice right now. "Other ways? Are you sure that there are other ways to resolve this? You are the PR director, have you been able to come up with a way since yesterday? Not at all!" Peter said. Rose spoke up, "But isn't getting them to get married a little too much? This...." She did not even want to think about what the both of them were going to do to each other. "Don't worry. I have a plan. Right now, everyone is focused on Scarlett. If we annouce that they are really going to get Married, they'll just talk about it for a while. The both of them will have to be married for a while....let's say six months, then after that, they can go thier seperate ways. The effect will be much more reduced then" Peter said. Rose and Matt looked at each other. They had to admit. It really wasn't that bad if they were going to do it like this. It just depended on Scarlett and Ryder. Are the both of them even going to agree to do something like this? As expected, "I don't want to! I don't want to have anything to do with this person for even one second! I don't care. Explain everything to the public. Tell them it was a joke or whatever! I am not going to have anything to do with him !" Scarlett said glaring fiercely at Ryder. This is all his fault. She is in this mess because of him. Ryder saw the dirty look that Scarlett was giving him. "Relax, it's not like I want to have anything to do with you either!" "Scarlett, I know that you are angry but there really isn't another way for us to settle this. You don't want to give up your career because of something like this right? Just take it that you are playing a role for six months. It's going to be over before you even think about it" Peter said. He was trying to convince Scarlett. As long as she agreed to it, then it was settled. There is no way this stupid son of his would dare to disagree. After all, he is the one who started it all. "But I really don't want to!" Scarlett said. She did not want to have anything to do with this person and she also did not want to see her career that she worked so hard for be destroyed over night. This damn Ryder seriously! What kind of luck did she even have to meet this kind of person in her life? Why did they have go keep getting entangled with each other endlessly.? "It's for the better good Scarlett. We've all put in a lot of effort in the last five years. There is no way that we can let your career be affected like this" Peter said. The company had used up a lot of resources on Scarlett because they thought that she would definitely be popular. She was finally Popular, there was no way that they would let all the hard work go down the drain. Scarlett thought about it. She really did not want to but her career....for six months... forget it! It was just for six months. She would just take it as she playing a role for those six months Besides, if she was really married to this person for six months then she would have a lot of chances to torture this idoit Ryder and teach him a good lesson. After all, it was all his fault that things got to this stage. She won't let him off at all! In fact, Scarlett was already thinking of wars to make Ryder's life difficult! Thinking about it this way, Scarlett wasn't so angry anymore. She would surely take her revenge on him slowly from now on for these six months. He had better just sit back and wait for the things that she's going to do with him. Ryder watched as his father came to a compromise with Scarlett. He was angry. Why isn't anyone asking him about what he thinks? Why has he been ignored like this? "Dad...what is going on here? The both of you just made a decision without asking me about my opinion. What the hell is the meaning of this? I don't want to get married to her! No matter what, I'm not going to accept it!" Ryder said. He had to protest and made sure that at least his voice was heard. What did they mean by this? Did they mean that he wasn't important at all and that they could do whatever they want without asking him about what he thinks? He would not accept it! "Do you really think that your opinion is important here? You are the one who caused this! Do you really have to mess with Scarlett? Do you even know...." Peter wanted to say did he knew how much she earned for the company, but he held himself back because Scarlett was Still there. He did not want to make her feel bad since it seems that she already agreed to it. Peter continued, "Anyway, you are going to get married to Scarlett. It's just for six months. She's really giving up a lot here so I hope that you won't make things difficult for Scarlett in the next six months!" Peter said, leaving no room for Ryder to continue to argue. Rose looked at Scarlett. She did not look like she was angry it like she was happy about it. It seemed that Scarlett had accepted the outcome of this. Rose was shocked. Scarlett agreed to be married to Ryder for six months without kicking up a fuss.? She never thought that she would live to see the day when Scarlett was still understanding of someone else. What is really going on here? "Then, we can leave if there is nothing else for us to talk about right?" Rose asked Peter she had to talk to Scarlett and find out what she is thinking. Rose was sure that there was something else making Scarlett this understanding of the situation. "Yes, yes, you can go. Don't worry. The company will deal with everything else from now onwards. Thanks for working with us on this Scarlett" Peter said he was really happy that she was able to see what was really important and that she wasn't kicking up a fuss like this useless son of his here! Rose and Scarlett bowed and walked out of the office. Immediately they were gone, Ryder tuned to his father. "Dad, what is the meaning of this? How can you arrange for the both of us to get married? Do you really think that there is a way that I can live with that woman? I think that I'm going to die of anger if I as much as I spend a day with her!" Ryder said. He had never truly net a woman that was as annoying as Scarlett. "Do you really think that you have a choice here? Seriously, if you are not going to work then at least don't try to create problems for us! What do you think would have happened if she didn't agree to it?" Peter asked. He was so upset. Just what is this? Matt was thinking about something. "But why do you think that she agreed without kicking up a fuss? Scarlett doesn't seem like the kind of woman who would compromise so easily" He said. The three of them were quiet for a few seconds before Peter said. "It doesn't matter why she agreed to do it. It's good that she agreed. As long as she agrees, she can do whatever she wants!" Ryder was speechless. He did not believe that he had been ignored over and over again like this like he did not matter at all! What the hell is the meaning of this? "Do my opinions really not matter at all?" He asked. "Just bear with it Ryder. After all, it's just for six months. It'll be over before you know" Matt said. For some reason, Matt felt that that things were going to get interesting from now on. He really wanted to watch what would happen during the time that Scarlett and Ryder will be married. He really wanted to watch the fun. ***** Rose was driving Scarlett back home. Because she had to come to the company today, they had canceled all her schedules for today. They did not think that they would be done talking so early. Scarlett decided to go back home and prepare her mind for what was going to happen from now on. "Scarlett....can I ask you a question?" Rose asked Scarlett. The more she saw her calm and resigned expression, the more she thought that Scarlett was up to something. There was no way that she would agree to get married so easily without kicking up a fuss for at least a while just to make things difficult for everyone. Making life difficult for everyone when she wasn't happy was something that Scarlett did best. Why is she so understanding all of a sudden? She had to find out what is going on in Scarlett's head. "What is it?" Scarlett asked. Thinking about how she was going to make life difficult for that idoit Ryder for the next six months, she was in a good mood. "Why did you agree to get married all of a sudden? I mean...you really hate Ryder a lot right?" Rose asked. "Of course I hate him a lot! Do you think that I agreed to it because I suddenly developed an interest in him?!" Scarlett asked. Just tht thought of that was enough to make her puke. "No...no...of course not! I don't think that! I'm just curious. Why did you agree to get Married? What is fool on?" Rose asked Scarlett asked. "Do you really think that I'm going to let Ryder off after he messed up my life like this?" Rose was stunned for a few seconds before she finally caught on. "Scarlett you..." Scarlett only smiled. Ryder, you had better watch out from now on!
