"That's not true," Melody said suddenly, her voice shaking.
She looked at Jeremy, the pain in her eyes was sharp and undeniable. She shook her head and said, "You're just making excuses. You never intended to help me. You only said that to trick me into coming back."
She felt foolish for trusting Jeremy again. If he couldn't even keep the small promises he'd made, why would she believe he'd come through for something this serious? Not to mention, why would he suddenly care about her?
