Chapter 92 Always Support You
At the hospital, the sharp scent of disinfectant hung in the air.
Madeline lay on the hospital bed with an IV drip inserted into the back of her hand as the clear fluid slowly flowed into her veins. Her cheeks were flushed from her fever, and her lashes cast faint shadows beneath her eyelids.
Samuel sat on a chair by the bed, fixing her gaze on her face without wavering. His fingertips gently brushed aside the damp hair at her temple.
He was still wearing clothes stained with last night's mud and moisture. His hair lay messily against his forehead, and his eyes were bloodshot. Those were all clear signs that he, too, had gone without sleep all night.
A nurse came in to change the IV and give instructions. Samuel listened with unusual focus, not missing a single detail.
After the nurse left, Samuel lay down again and carefully tucked the blanket around Madeline.
