Chapter 83: Bitten by a Dog
"To think that waste Joseph has someone capable of killing these men around him!"
"I really can't believe it!"
"What on earth is going on?"
Kerry was getting anxious. These people were practically assets to his family.
If others found out that he had accidentally caused the deaths of his own people, it wouldn't reflect well on him.
"If I can't kill Joseph, then I'll kill his family!"
...
Medrigez, Hank, and Tom Cruise had all prepared early in the morning to meet with Joseph. They waited at the entrance of Joseph's hotel.
After witnessing Joseph's murder the day before and learning about his background, they treated him with utmost respect, like mice before a cat.
"Mr. Joseph, have you woken up? I hope you slept well last night?"
"Mr. Joseph, we will follow your orders from now on. Whatever you want us to do, we will do it!"
"We will definitely follow your commands! We won't do anything bad to you!"
"Please give us a chance, Mr. Joseph!"
Joseph listened and replied calmly, "Since you're all willing to listen, I have no need to say more. As long as you obey, you won't suffer under my command."
"But remember one thing: don't ever betray me. I won't forgive you."
If they weren't willing to listen, their stock prices would plummet. It was wise of the three families to understand this, and Joseph didn't plan on a prolonged struggle with them.
Seeing Joseph's demeanor, the three families realized, "Luckily, we agreed with Medrigez's plan to maintain contact with Joseph and speak well with him."
"If Joseph gets upset and decides to take action against us, we won't even know how we died."
Hank nodded, "If it wasn't for Medrigez's quick thinking, our three families might have already been completely ruined!"
After dealing with the three families, Joseph called Beelzebub and the others to prepare the car.
"We're going to pick up Lucy and the others."
"Yes, sir!"
Meanwhile, Tangna was looking wistfully into the distance. Lucy saw this and hurried over.
"What's wrong, Tangna? You seem a bit unhappy."
Tangna pouted, "I'm just really sad, Mom. I've been dreaming about Dad a lot lately. When will he be back?"
Lucy understood that Tangna was missing her father. "Wait here a moment. I'll call your dad and tell him to come over right away."
Just as she went to get her phone to call Joseph, a large German Shepherd appeared beside Tangna.
The dog was excited to see Tangna, but Tangna had no idea what was happening. The dog was eyeing the hamburger in Tangna's hand.
Just as the dog lunged, Sophie came out. Seeing the situation, Sophie knew she had to act. She grabbed her bag and swung it at the dog.
The clever dog dodged Sophie's attack and bit her leg. Before Sophie could react, the dog ran away, panting and carrying a chunk of Sophie's flesh.
"Help! Aunt Sophie got bitten by a dog!"
"Is anyone there?"
"Help!"
Jenna was standing nearby, feeling quite depressed. Because of Joseph, the FBI had scolded her, and her chances of promotion seemed slim. She didn't feel like intervening.
"Oh? There's trouble? That's even better," Jenna muttered, rolling her eyes and walking away.
Just then, Lucy came out and saw Tangna and Sophie.
"Oh my! What happened here?"
She rushed over.
"Mom! Aunt Sophie's leg is badly hurt from the dog bite!"
"This is bad!"
Sophie was losing a lot of blood. Lucy's family members finally came out to help.
"What should we do!"
"Take her to the hospital!"
"This looks really bad!"
"Are you okay?"
Hearing everyone's voices, Sophie tried to lift her head but couldn't speak to anyone. She felt her soul was about to leave her body.
Suddenly, a familiar figure appeared in the distance.
Beelzebub arrived with a dog's head in hand.
"Was this the dog that attacked Tangna?"
Seeing Beelzebub, Lucy and Tangna approached.
"Are you okay?"
"I'm fine."
Beelzebub felt awkward. She had only left for a short while, and Tangna almost got hurt. If something had happened, how could she explain it to Joseph?
Lucy was worried about Sophie. Although Sophie hadn't been very nice to her before, she had recently been kind.
Thinking of how well Sophie had treated her lately, Lucy felt a pang of sorrow.
"You've changed so much recently. You don't deserve this treatment."
"Call an ambulance. I'll take you to the hospital."
Tangna suddenly spoke up.
"Mom, did you know Jenna is a coward?"
Lucy was taken aback. "Why do you say that?"
"When the dog appeared, Jenna didn't even try to help!"
"She's supposed to be so strong, but she didn't come to help. Isn't she just bullying us?"
"If she's not bullying us, then she's a coward!"
Lucy and Sophie exchanged glances, confirming their thoughts.
If Jenna really ignored the danger, wasn't that essentially abandoning them?
Lucy's eyes narrowed, and Beelzebub's expression grew cold.
Jenna's inaction was unforgivable. She had essentially left Tangna in danger.
Jenna couldn't stay in their midst any longer. She was clearly a venomous, heartless woman!
