Chapter 59: Goodbye, Daddy

Dr. Mundo arrived hurriedly with the medical kit. Joseph temporarily put aside the confrontation to check on his daughter's injury. Dr. Mundo quickly treated Tangna's wound and assured them it was nothing serious. "Mr. Joseph, it's just a minor injury, nothing serious." "But why did you let her play outside alone? This seems like a scrape." He applied a special herbal ointment he had prepared himself to Tangna's wound. Instantly, white smoke started rising from the wound. Tangna closed her eyes in relief. "Mm~ So comfortable! I love this feeling~" Joseph finally breathed a sigh of relief, but his eyes turned cold again. He turned to Alan, who had followed them, and warned him. "I'll let it go this time, but if it happens again, don't blame me for being ruthless!" With that, he took Lucy and Tangna and left. As they walked away, Lucy's mind was filled with questions. What was going on with Joseph? Why did he seem so different from what he had told her? Didn't he say these people were his friends? But now, they acted like terrified mice in the presence of a cat! How could Joseph call them friends in such a situation?! After Joseph and his group left, Alan turned to Sophia with a grim face. "Look at the trouble you've caused! Do you know who Joseph is?" Sophia sobbed. "How would I know who he is? Why is he so arrogant?" Alan yelled in frustration. "You are so ignorant! He is a big shot in San Francisco, someone we cannot afford to offend!" Sophia was stunned. She hadn't realized she had caused such a huge problem. "So what do we do now?" She asked anxiously. Alan sighed helplessly. "We can only try to meet his demands and ensure his wife and daughter are safe in San Francisco. Otherwise, we're done for." Sophia was filled with regret and fear, but it was too late to change anything. She had to follow Alan's lead. Meanwhile, Joseph carried Tangna back home, with Lucy watching him, her confusion growing deeper. "Joseph, who are you really? Why do those people fear you so much?" Joseph smiled at Lucy, deciding to reveal some truths. "Lucy, the reason I have such a position in San Francisco is because of my special abilities and background. But please believe me, my feelings for you and Tangna are genuine." Although Joseph's words didn't completely clear her doubts, Lucy chose to trust him. These were the things Joseph had intended to tell Lucy in the park before being interrupted by the foolish Sophia. Thinking about this made Joseph's anger towards Sophia even greater. Meanwhile, Dr. Mundo was preparing to leave. He took out a small medicine bottle. "Sister-in-law, this is a special medicine I made for our Tangna. It's mainly for heart care. Give her one pill every night." "The child is still young, so it's easier to manage now. If things get worse, we'll address it later." "I need to go back and continue researching Tangna's condition. I can't stay here." "But don't worry, Tangna is Mr. Joseph's daughter, which means she's our daughter too. We will do everything to help her." Lucy nodded in gratitude. "Thank you. I can see you truly care for Tangna." After seeing Dr. Mundo off, Joseph checked his phone. "Sweetie, wait for me here. I need to go to Florida for a bit." Hearing that Joseph was leaving, Tangna started crying loudly. "I don't want Daddy to leave!" Joseph quickly comforted her. "Be a good girl. Daddy will be back soon." He kissed Tangna on the forehead and then turned to Lucy. "I'll be back soon. Take good care of Tangna." But Tangna continued to cry. "Daddy, do you not love me anymore? Why do you have to leave me again?" "Isn't it good when we're together?" Lucy, feeling anxious, tried to comfort Tangna. "Tangna, don't cry. Daddy isn't going away to have fun. He's working hard for us." "Daddy is doing this for our good." But Tangna was inconsolable. "I don't want a big house. I just want Daddy. I want Daddy!" Joseph, watching his crying daughter, felt heartbroken but knew he had to handle his affairs. Having lived through many separations and farewells, Joseph had become accustomed to them. He knew he couldn't afford to delay his work. Delays could lead to bigger problems! He knelt down and spoke earnestly to Tangna. "Tangna, Daddy will always love you. I'm going out to make our lives better. When I come back, we'll have lots of fun together, okay?" He had thought about giving up before. But seeing Tangna now, his mind changed. He realized he was fighting for Lucy and Tangna's future, not just for temporary happiness. Joseph quickly found his resolve. "It's Daddy's job. Just trust that Daddy will come back." Despite her reluctance, Tangna tearfully let go of Joseph's hand. Joseph's voice choked up. "Tangna, be good. Daddy will be back in three days." "I won't leave and never come back." Tangna nodded. "Okay, Daddy, you have to keep your word. I don't want anyone to call me a bastard again. Everyone has a daddy. I want one too." Tangna continued to cry but nodded. Listening to her, Joseph's heart ached deeply. What had she gone through all these years? Such a young child, yet she had endured so much! Joseph gently stroked her hair, then turned and left. Lucy watched his departing figure, her eyes moistening. "Daddy, come back soon!" "Daddy, goodbye! Tangna will miss you!" Joseph dared not look back. He feared that if he did, he wouldn't want to leave. Joseph nodded to himself. Alright! This time, I will solve everything quickly and return to be with Tangna and Lucy!
