Chapter 57: Looking for Trouble?

Joseph smiled and nodded. Soon, everyone gathered around. They all sat in their places, waiting for the next day to come. However, Joseph had something more important to do. He needed to settle things with Lucy. Proposing successfully today was a very happy event for Joseph. But it wasn't enough. He still needed to get engaged. Only after holding an engagement ceremony with Lucy would everything truly begin. For this reason, Joseph didn't rush to Florida. He couldn't come and go in a hurry. After everyone finished eating, Joseph, Lucy, and Tangna left the room. The three of them walked in the park, and suddenly, Joseph said to Tangna, "Tangna, can you go play by yourself for a while? Daddy wants to talk to Mommy." Tangna was a bit stunned. Although she didn't understand, she obediently agreed and left to find her friends to play with. Lucy felt shy and lowered her head. "What do you want to do? I thought you would propose again like earlier..." "Hahaha! How could that be!" Joseph tapped her on the head. "Proposals are a one-time thing, only once." Lucy blushed and looked down. After a while, Joseph suddenly lifted Lucy up. Lucy was startled and screamed. "Ah! I'm going to fall!" But how could Joseph let her fall? Joseph treated her as if she were the most delicate porcelain. Hearing her words, he didn't say anything else; instead, he gently lifted her body. "Let's go!" He started running forward with Lucy in his arms. Lucy struggled in panic, but she couldn't break free and found herself unable to leave Joseph's side. The faster Joseph ran, the tighter Lucy held on. With no other choice, Lucy wrapped her arms around Joseph's neck. "Are you crazy! What are you doing!" "I'm taking you somewhere." As they ran, Lucy asked, "Where are you taking me?" "Somewhere most people wouldn't go." They arrived at a secluded corner of the park, and Lucy, feeling awkward, asked, "Why did we come here?" She was very shy. Even though they had been together for a long time, seeing Joseph brought back memories from five years ago. Lucy looked at Joseph. "Did you come to see me today because you had something to tell me?" Joseph looked up at Lucy. "Mm..." "You know me well." "Tell me, is it about those people today? Why did you call them here? Did it cost a lot?" Joseph shook his head. "Me? Not really." "Money isn't a big deal to me." "As long as the people in San Francisco know you're loved, that's enough." Lucy was shocked by Joseph's words. It seemed he was serious about her. "And besides, we haven't seen each other in five years." "In those five years, I've been through a lot and grown a lot." Listening to Joseph, tears started falling from Lucy's eyes. Joseph immediately stopped and held her close. "Don't cry." "You're my princess. How can you cry? It's not good if people see." "Alright, wait a moment." Lucy said, and she took off the brooch from her dress. It was her favorite brooch, but now it had become a precious token of their relationship. Lucy placed the brooch on Joseph's chest. "Let me give you something... a token of my love." Lucy bit her lip and gently kissed Joseph on the cheek. "Let's never be apart again." Lucy's voice trembled, filled with all her hopes for the world. "Have you thought about what our wedding will be like?" Lucy looked up at Joseph. "What do you want to do?" Joseph smiled. "Of course, give you a perfect wedding!" "I've decided that once I finish things here, I'll take you to Florida." Hearing this, Lucy became excited. "Florida? You mean there..." "Yes, there. I plan to take care of some business there, then buy a house, and you can live there. Florida is quite a comfortable place." Hearing that Joseph was leaving again, Lucy felt worried. "Do you know how sad Tangna will be if you leave?" "She can't be without you now." Just then, they heard a voice nearby. "Are you blind?" It turned out that while Tangna was playing with her friends, she accidentally bumped into a pregnant woman. Though the woman wasn't hurt, she started scolding Tangna and even slapped her hard. Tangna fell to the ground crying. "What are you doing! Bullying me!" The pregnant woman sneered. "Can't you see I'm pregnant? Are you blind, you brat!" She was about to kick Tangna, but Joseph arrived just in time. "You filthy woman, what are you doing, hitting my daughter?" Seeing Joseph about to act, Lucy quickly said, "Don't, Joseph, she's pregnant!" "So what if she's pregnant? Does that mean she can hit our daughter?!" "She's asking for it!" Joseph said, grabbing the pregnant woman's arm. With a slight force, he made her kneel. "Apologize!" Joseph said each word clearly. The woman trembled with fear. "I..." "Apologize!" "Sorry!" "I was wrong, I was wrong!" Joseph looked at her coldly, unmoved. "Tangna, are you okay?" Tangna nodded. Seeing that Joseph was no longer paying attention to her, the woman took out her phone. "Just you wait! Don't think I'll let this go. Soon you'll pay the price!" "I'm calling my father right now! Do you know who my father is?"
