Chapter 19: FBI Takes Bribes!

Saul obediently called the FBI director immediately. "This is Saul, my father is Kyle! I'm sending you our location now! I order you to come here immediately!" The FBI director, Panson, was stunned by Saul's words. What had he done to be summoned by the mayor's son? What was going on?! Although Panson was bewildered, he followed the directions and headed towards the location. Upon arrival, he saw Saul and the situation before him, which left him even more shocked. "Master Saul! Why are you here?!" Panson was visibly terrified. "Stop with the nonsense!" Seeing Saul, Panson felt his fate was sealed! Looking around at the scene, he was at a complete loss. Fighter jets flying overhead, snipers ready to leave, tanks all around, and the ground covered in blood. Nearby, a group of women prepared to leave. To the untrained eye, it looked like the site of a third world war! "What... what happened here?!" "I ask you, do you remember Mr. Johnson's recent activities? Haven't you been monitoring his actions?!" Saul angrily questioned Panson, but what surprised him even more was Panson's response. "Master Saul, I swear I'm telling the truth! I only just learned about this! Where did you get this information?!" Panson looked utterly bewildered. Saul was so angry he wanted to hit him! Meanwhile, Panson's agents stood by, listening. Joseph's men stood calmly nearby, their expressions unreadable behind their reaper masks. "What? You didn't know about this before? What does that mean?! Why does the FBI always come up empty-handed when investigating here?!" "Master Saul, please let me explain! I have no reason to lie to you." Panson was desperate. "Explain what’s going on!" "I don't know!" Facing Saul's relentless questioning, Panson was on the verge of breaking down. "Master Saul, I don't know how to answer your questions!" In a fit of anger, Saul grabbed him by the collar and shouted. "Then tell me why you don't know about Johnson's despicable actions! How did he get into the FBI’s jurisdiction under your watch?!" Hearing this, Panson almost passed out. "How would I know?!" He said pitifully. "I've never heard of such things!" Joseph listened to their exchange with growing curiosity. "What are you talking about? Something doesn't seem right." Saul looked frustrated. "Many of Johnson's men are actually FBI insiders. Johnson even has a position and title within the FBI, but these things were hidden too well. We hadn't discovered them until now." Hearing this, Joseph raised an eyebrow. "Well, it seems I was right. The FBI and Johnson are in cahoots!" Panson quickly protested. "No, they tried to bribe me, but I never accepted! You must believe me!" The reason he never accepted Johnson's bribes was simple: he knew Johnson would eventually blow up. Accepting his bribes would be playing with fire. Saul momentarily believed him, then asked another question. "One more thing. Do you know about Joseph's daughter?" Joseph's daughter? Wait, who is Joseph? Could it be the man standing here? Panson had no idea why Saul valued Joseph so highly. Was he a high-ranking official from the government? "Joseph's daughter was kidnapped, but instead of arresting those who hurt her, you arrested her father?" Following Saul's gesture, everyone noticed a few people tied up on the ground nearby. "I... I didn't know..." Panson was stammering, unable to say anything beyond "I don't know." But indeed, he didn't know what else to say. Joseph said calmly. "If you don't know, go find out! Why are you stalling?" Though Panson didn't know who Joseph was, Saul's respect indicated he was no ordinary man. So Panson hurried over to his agents. "What’s going on here?! What are you doing?!" Panson looked tense. The agents remained silent, but Panson noticed something: they all wore diamond rings! Immediately, he understood. Given the salaries of FBI members, they couldn't afford such rings quickly! The only explanation was... These agents were connected to Johnson! Based on their previous actions, Panson knew they were bought. Saul looked at one of the agents and smirked. "Looks like this is quite an interesting situation!" The agent's heart pounded. He had been wondering how Saul got all this information. Now it was clear: it didn't matter anymore. Joseph was curious about Saul's next move. Now that it was clear these agents were bribed by Johnson... Given Joseph's current status, whatever he did could have serious repercussions. Panson sighed and addressed the group. "Alright, let's get these trivial matters sorted out first." He glanced at the FBI agents. "Tell me, what are you going to do? Follow my orders and I’ll clear your names, or continue down this path to death?" Panson's question left the agents speechless. Of course, they didn't want to die. Seeing their silence, Panson focused on one agent. "Are you going to speak?" The timid agent, pressured, confessed. "I'm sorry! We shouldn't have taken bribes!"
