Chapter 172: Resuscitation Completed

Upon seeing Lucy, Giselle quickly invited her to sit down. "Miss Lucy, please take a seat here!" Giselle even went so far as to meticulously clean the spot where Lucy was to sit. The others around him were stunned, especially Kainan and Depp. After all, neither of them knew who Joseph's wife was. They thought Giselle was just being overly attentive because Lucy was beautiful. Curious, Kainan and Depp walked over and asked Giselle. "What, are you so desperate to woo a girl that you're going to these lengths?" "Yeah, you've completely lost your self-respect!" Giselle rolled his eyes. "Don't you know? Miss Lucy is Mr. Joseph's wife!" Hearing this, both Kainan and Depp were utterly shocked. "Oh my God! Subordinates Kainan and Depp greet Miss Lucy!" They both dropped to one knee in amazement. Giselle, seeing their reaction, chuckled and said, "I always figured Mr. Joseph would choose Miss Lucy as his partner." Giselle's words made Kainan and Depp feel even more ashamed. In fact, the moment they saw Lucy, their hearts had started to race. They both felt a strong urge to pursue her, regardless of her identity. But now they realized that Lucy was Joseph's wife. Even if they had a death wish, they couldn't act on those feelings. Giselle glanced at them, then walked away, leaving the two men to stew in their embarrassment. After Giselle left, Kainan and Depp found themselves in an even more conflicted state. Having seen Lucy, they couldn't tear their eyes away from her. Both were thinking the same thing: would it be wise to talk to Lucy? After being scolded by Giselle, they certainly didn't want to embarrass themselves in front of Lucy as well. But just as they were lost in thought, Lucy suddenly spoke. "Hey, I think I've met you two before, right?" "Of course!" Among the men present, only Kainan and Depp dared to speak with Lucy. Giselle wouldn't dare, and the rest were just low-ranking lackeys. Ignoring the others' stares, Lucy turned to Kainan and Depp and asked, "You’ve known Joseph for quite a while, haven’t you?" Kainan nodded, and they began telling Lucy stories of their past encounters with Joseph, stories she had never heard before. She listened intently, absorbing every detail. After recounting the past, they began discussing Joseph's current situation. "Mr. Joseph's condition... he's out of immediate danger, but when he might fully regain consciousness depends entirely on his own resilience." Dr. Mundo had already exhausted all his efforts. He had poured all his energy into Joseph's treatment. However, due to the prolonged period of poisoning and the lack of timely medical attention, Joseph's brain had been infected by his wounds. This was the reason for his current coma. Despite the dire situation, there was hope. Joseph's condition, while serious, was expected to improve gradually over time, though it would take patience and care. Now, Dr. Mundo had another pressing concern. He was physically worn out from his recent exertions and needed rest. If nothing urgent came up, he planned to take some time off to recuperate. Although Dr. Mundo's words were diplomatic, those present weren't fools—they picked up on the underlying message. "So, Doctor, are you saying that given Mr. Joseph's current state, he might not be able to continue in the Hell organization?" Lucy asked, her brow furrowing as she watched Dr. Mundo's troubled expression. Suddenly recalling something, Dr. Mundo said, "His involvement with the Hell organization isn't our concern, but I do remember Mr. Joseph asking me to ensure your parents' recovery." He looked at Lucy calmly. "Let's go. I'll check on your parents." Lucy hesitated. "But you said you're not feeling well, and I can see you're not in great shape. Maybe you should rest first?" Dr. Mundo shook his head. "No, patients come first. I'll help with your parents and then worry about myself." In truth, he wasn't against resting, but he feared that if he delayed, something could happen to Lucy's parents, especially her father. If anything went wrong, he would feel deeply guilty. Earlier, Joseph had shown Dr. Mundo the details of Lucy's parents' illnesses. As a top-tier doctor, Dr. Mundo could assess the severity of their conditions. While both parents were seriously ill, he believed that Lucy's mother might pull through, but her father required special attention. If he didn't accompany Lucy to the hospital, and her father suffered as a result, Dr. Mundo knew he wouldn't be able to live with the regret. So, at this moment, Dr. Mundo's primary concern was helping Lucy save her parents. As he worked, something unusual caught his attention. "Strange, why is it these toxins?" Lucy’s parents were afflicted with a toxin he recognized—one commonly used by the World Destroyer organization, a group notorious for its use of biochemical weapons. Dr. Mundo was familiar with them, having treated several members of the Hell organization who had been poisoned by the World Destroyers in the past. He was baffled. Why would Lucy’s parents have been poisoned by this specific toxin?
