Chapter 117: Disappointment
Joseph knew where the alarm was as soon as he entered, but it didn't matter to him.
If one is afraid of a small alarm, how worthless must they be?
He also knew that Zesasus was just stalling for time while talking to him.
Now that enough time had passed, Zesasus had no intention of pretending anymore.
Joseph looked at him coldly.
"Since you are ready to act, let me tell you, Zesasus, I didn't come here to kill you."
"I didn't expect you to not care about what happened back then at all, and even… Forget it, I won't say more."
Joseph's cold gaze eventually turned into a helpless laugh.
Unexpectedly, Zesasus had no intention of speaking much more with Joseph.
Seeing his thirteen subordinates arrive, Zesasus shrugged and turned to leave.
"This fool doesn't understand a thing I'm saying. Go on, kill him."
After speaking, he turned to leave.
Joseph hadn't made a move yet; he just watched him coldly, saying:
"Do you know who I am? To me, brotherhood and family are above all else."
"Though I said I came to kill you today, I actually didn't come with that intention."
"My intention was simple. But I didn't expect you to not give me a chance."
Joseph's voice grew colder.
"I even thought that if you begged for mercy, I might give you a chance to escape, but now I don't want to."
"Zesasus, you've exhausted all my patience."
"I am very disappointed in you, my brother."
Before Zesasus could respond, Joseph flashed forward and attacked.
His moves were fierce, with every punch and kick carrying immense power.
In the blink of an eye, several men charging at him were down.
Seeing this, Zesasus's face darkened. He had underestimated Joseph's strength.
However, he did not back down, a ruthless glint flashing in his eyes.
"Let me tell you, even if you can fight four opponents at once, you can't kill all my men!"
"There are thirteen people in this room!"
"Including me, that's fourteen!"
"Don't forget, back then you couldn't even beat me!"
"You were so useless, struggling in vain!"
Before he could finish, Joseph charged at him. Zesasus wasn't ready to fight him just yet and executed a strange set of martial arts.
His attacks came like a storm, putting immense pressure on Joseph.
They exchanged blows, neither yielding.
During the fierce fight, Joseph noticed that Zesasus's martial arts seemed to contain some hidden tricks.
He kept a close watch, looking for an opening.
Finally, Joseph found an opportunity.
He exerted great force, landing a punch on Zesasus's chest, sending him back several steps.
"How… how did your skills improve so much?!"
Zesasus was shocked.
This martial art was one he had learned from the mysterious East.
Clutching his chest, blood trickling from his mouth, Zesasus still managed to stand, glaring at Joseph.
"You… you are indeed strong..."
Zesasus gritted his teeth.
"But don't forget, I still have a backup plan..."
With that, he pulled out a handgun and aimed it at Joseph.
At the same time, his subordinates rushed at Joseph!
It looked like Joseph was cornered.
Joseph sidestepped, kicking the gun out of Zesasus's hand.
He then moved swiftly, delivering a chop to Zesasus's neck, knocking him out.
Everyone in the room was stunned!
"What's happening to Zesasus?!"
"Did he pass out? What’s going on?!"
"Oh my god, someone help Mr. Zesasus!"
Rushing to avenge Zesasus, the remaining men charged at Joseph.
But Joseph didn't pay them any mind.
After taking down Zesasus, Joseph turned to face the other enemies.
His gaze was firm, unafraid.
He grasped the air with both hands, swinging them forcefully. A powerful gust of wind sent the enemies flying.
"Is this guy even human?!"
"Does he have some special weapon?"
"What was that just now?!"
Those standing further away, even after being blown away, were left in a daze.
They stared blankly ahead, utterly bewildered.
"Can we even defeat this guy?"
"Definitely not… let’s give up, folks."
"No! This Joseph guy looks so dangerous, everyone!"
Before they could react, Joseph struck the ground with his fist.
No other weapon was needed; the shockwave alone sent everyone flying!
With the battle over, Joseph looked at the unconscious Zesasus, filled with mixed emotions.
He had wanted to give Zesasus a chance, but his actions were unforgivable.
Dragging Zesasus to an open area, he doused him with water.
Gurgling sounds came from Zesasus as he opened his eyes.
"What… what happened?"
Joseph looked at him coldly.
"What do you think?"
Seeing the surroundings, Zesasus’s eyes widened.
"I'm sorry, it's all my fault! I'm sorry!"
"Joseph, I'm sorry, I shouldn't have looked down on you, it's all my fault!"
His voice trembled, but Joseph wasn’t interested in wasting more time.
"I've given you so many chances, but you never gave me any explanation."
"Tell me, what do you mean by this?"
"Are you just asking for death?"
Joseph looked at his hands.
"I gave you a chance to live, but you didn’t take it. Now, don’t blame me for not considering our past friendship."
