OLIVIA'S POV
After dropping the kids off at school, I drove straight home, my nerves coiled tightly in my stomach. Today could change everything. My mother's fate still hung in the balance, but finally, there was a sliver of hope. I paced the living room like a caged wolf, glancing at the clock every other minute until I finally heard the sound of a vehicle pulling into the driveway.
I'd also informed James about Derek, and he was working on finding out more about that poison. Maybe we could close this case once and for all.
I threw open the door just as Derek stepped out of his car, holding a slim black folder and a USB drive in his hand. His face was serious, but I could see the urgency in his eyes.
"You found something?" I asked before he even stepped inside.
