Chapter 101
DOMINIC'S POV
I'd stormed off like a petulant pup—again.
My footsteps echoed like thunder as I left the field behind, fury boiling just beneath my skin. My wolf didn't say a word. No growling, no snarling. Just... silence. He went utterly still, as if even he was ashamed of me. Maybe he was right to be.
I got in my car and drove aimlessly, my hands gripping the wheel so tightly that I could feel the strain in my bones. My jaw ached from clenching. My head throbbed. I didn't have a destination—just an overwhelming need to move, to escape the way her voice cracked when she told Derek she felt nothing for me. As if those words hadn't just shattered every last hope I'd been clinging to.
How did I become this person?
The evening air grew colder as I drove along the borders, the wind sneaking through the cracked window and whipping across my face. It didn't soothe me. Nothing did. Not the stars above me, not the scent of the woods I'd once called home. It all just made the ache worse.
