Chapter 12: And Another One
The sunlight shone in through the window and landed on Krell and Locas's faces. They both looked at me with bright eyes.
I looked at their solemn expressions and earnest gazes and softened. After all, I couldn't keep dwelling on the past when two people of such noble status apologized to me so sincerely and helped me so passionately.
"Alright, then I'll forgive you. If you say or do anything disrespectful to me again, I'll really get pissed off," I pretended to be angry and said to them angrily.
Locas laughed out loud. He patted my face gently. "Mia, you're so cute."
Krell pushed his hand away. "Don't touch her. Have you forgotten what Mia just said? I think you just won't learn. Mia, let's chase him out."
Everyone chatted and laughed, and the atmosphere became animated.
With everyone working together, my clinic quickly became clean and tidy.
The largest room had a counter with a glass partition in the middle. It was decorated as a waiting room. We even set up a fish tank inside to keep patients calm while waiting.
Inside were my operating table and examination equipment. There were even some high-tech equipment that the big hospitals did not have. They were neatly arranged in the room like soldiers on standby as if they were ready and wanted to fight alongside me.
As the leader of this army, I suddenly felt my blood boil. I really wanted to save the dying and heal the injured in this room.
However, I was also afraid that I would fail to be any good.
I looked at the various high-tech equipment worriedly. Although I had learned how to use these instruments, I had not graduated from an authentic medical university, so I was still a little afraid.
Krell smiled and pushed Willard. "Mia, Willard not only has a healing skill, but he also has the International Medical Practitioner Certificate recognized by all the packs from Erindo to Narun. With him around, your clinic will be safe and sound."
"Wow, he's that good?" I really admired him. Willard seemed to be introverted and didn't say much. He only smiled when others bickered. I didn't expect him to be so impressive.
In fact, trade and even marriage could be interconnected between packs. However, medicine could not be interconnected because every pack had its own secret techniques that they guarded from outsiders.
As far as I knew, there were less than ten people in the world who held International Medical Practitioner Certificate. The medical knowledge and medical standards they knew were beyond my reach.
At this moment, such an amazing person was standing in front of me and wanted to come to work at my clinic. It was too surreal.
"Willard, welcome to my clinic. I still have a lot to learn from you." I extended my hand to him.
He took my hand but did not let go. Instead, he pulled it to his lips and kissed it gently. "Mia, I'm excited to be here."
I was a little dazed. The sun shone on Willard's hair and face. His smile was warm, and his entire body seemed to be emitting a gentle light. I felt like I was looking at an angel.
"I feel that your clinic must have a name," Sofia suddenly said. "Locas has brought so many machines and contributed so much to the clinic. How about Locas's Clinic?"
Locas laughed and ruffled Sofia's hair. "Sofia, you're so cute."
After Locas rubbed Sofia's hair, Sofia went into a trance. She felt that something was wrong. She took a step back in a daze. In the end, she tripped over the trash can and fell backward.
Locas, who was beside her, quickly pulled her back up and Sofia pulled into Locas's arms.
"Oh my God, Mia, Mia, I want to go home." Sofia's entire face was as red as a tomato. She struggled to her feet and bowed her head to thank Locas. She hurriedly said, "I have to go home first. I have something to do at home."
"Sofia, what's wrong? Are you alright?" I was curious about Sofia's strange behavior.
The others seemed to have noticed something. They looked at each other and smiled. Krell even punched Locas, but Locas did not fight back. The two of them were clearly in confrontation. It seemed I was the only that felt so absent-minded.

*Simon*
"Mia, who is he?" Three days after Mia's clinic's opened, I returned from out of town. I had missed the clinic's opening previously. When I called Mia to apologize, I wanted her to say, "Simon, I'm very sad that you're not around on such an important occasion." Unexpectedly, she said it was fine. I heard a lot of noise on the other end of the phone. There were several men's voices. 'Did she really not care if I was beside her?' I thought.
It felt like a year when I was away for the past few days. When I finally came back, I rushed to see her.
I thought the one that was going to open the door for me was Mia with her most glamorous smile.
But it was a tall and handsome man with gray hair. I didn't see this coming.
"Simon, you came!" Mia's face appeared from behind him and she smiled at me, her eyes like stars.
The gray-haired man smiled at me and extended his hand. "Hello, Simon. My name is Willard. I'm Mia's assistant."
Mian blushed slightly. "Willard, stop joking. Without you, this clinic would be very difficult to operate. Many patients are here for you."
Seeing Mia being so intimate with Willard made me feel very uncomfortable, but I couldn't make it too obvious. I had to hide my uneasiness as I entered the clinic.
At the moment, there were a few patients in the clinic. Mia asked me to sit down first. She wanted to talk to me after changing a patient's dressing.
Except that she didn't have time to come to me even after I'd been sitting here for a good thirty minutes. I saw her bustling around, occasionally whispering something to Willard.
'Did he need to be so close to her when he spoke? Did he need to lift her loose hair when he spoke?" I found myself thinking.
When Mia wiped Willard's sweat with a towel, I couldn't take it anymore. I got up and left.
Maybe I wasn't welcome here, and Mia didn't need me, so why should I embarrass myself here?
Maybe the slam of the door had alerted Mia. I heard her catch up from behind.
"Simon, Simon, what's wrong with you?"
She was probably freaked out by me. She jogged all the way after me, looking concerned and innocent.
I realized that before I knew it, I had entered a dark alley with slippery, green moss steps beneath my feet. She came after me without hesitation.
'Silly girl, it's not safe here,' I thought.
I decided to stop. Unexpectedly, just as I turned, she didn't stop in her tracks and crashed into me. My heels tripped on the descending steps, and we both lost our balance and stumbled a few times on the steps.
And then, just as my back was pressed against the cold wall, my lips touched something warm and sweet.
After a few seconds, I swear I realized that I had actually kissed Mia's lips.
Mia was clearly at a loss, too. We stayed very still.
"This, this is too much of a coincidence..." She suddenly stammered. "I'm sorry. I didn't mean to offend you..." she said, looking flustered and ashamed, and gave me a hasty shove.
Just as she was about to leave, I couldn't control my hand any longer. I pulled her close, held her tightly and kissed her again.
She made a weak whimpering sound and tried to wriggle her way out of my grip.
"Don't be like that..." I whispered. "I feel terrible..."
Mia stared into space. Then she must have thought of something. With a faint sigh, she gently parted her lips.
I was overjoyed. I had only wanted to kiss her lightly, but the more I kissed her, the more excited I became. Her lips were moist and fragrant.
As my tongue pried between her teeth and tangled with hers, I heard a soft moan spill from the back of her throat.
"My God," I groaned in admiration from the depths of my soul.
We were outside. I suppressed my desire and pulled away from Mia. I saw that her face was red like a beautiful rose. Her eyes were still blurry, and her lips were slightly swollen.
"Simon, are you... feeling better?" She was already breathless from the kiss, but she was still worried about me.
"Silly." I touched her head. "Thank you."
Mia looked at me in a daze. Suddenly, she smiled brightly and said as if she'd got an answer to the problem, "So did the kiss work for you?"
Her words were hurtful. My face darkened again.
Seeing that I was unhappy, Mia tugged at my sleeve nervously. "What's wrong again? What did I do wrong?"
I couldn't believe she didn't know why I was pissed off.
I sighed in disappointment and pulled her into my arms. "I'll be fine if you have dinner with me."
"Okay."
By the time we finished having dinner, it was long after dark. I wanted to send Mia home, but she said Willard hadn't left yet and that she had to go check him out.
Although it cut at my heart, I still went with her back to her clinic.
The clinic was already pitch black. When we entered the clinic, it was empty.
"Look, Mia. Willard is long gone."
Mia made a call to Willard, but no one answered.
We were about to leave when suddenly a gray shadow leaped into the clinic. Then it stopped moving.
Mia screamed in fear. I quickly stood in front of her.
Upon closer inspection, the one lying unconscious on the ground was actually a badly injured gray wolf. There was already a large pool of blood on the floor.
