Aisha's POV
The moment his scent wrapped around me, earth, smoke, and something uniquely Simon. I didn't hesitate.
I tilted my head up and pressed my lips to his, my entire being aching to feel him, to remind myself that he was real, alive, and still mine.
The kiss was impulsive, raw, and full of everything I couldn't say with words. Simon responded instantly, his arms wrapping tightly around my waist as he deepened the kiss, like he had been waiting, starving for it.
"Thank the moon goddess that you are back."
"I thought about you the entire time," he murmured against my lips, his voice hoarse from battle. "Every blow I threw, every breath I took... it was all for you, Aisha. You were the reason I kept fighting."
Tears prickled at the corners of my eyes, but I blinked them away. There was no time for tears, not when my heart was thundering from the truth in his words. He was the sweetest man I have ever met, he knew how to melt my hearts with just his words.
