JJack's POV
The scent of burnt ash still lingered in the hideout, a reminder of how close we'd come to success. And yet, she slipped through my fingers again.
Aisha.
I hated the idea of her in that pack with all my heart. The mere thought of her and that bastard together sent my temper through the roof.
Every time I pictured her running to Simon, trusting him, clinging to him like he was her savior instead of the monster he truly was, it made my blood boil. I slammed my fist into the nearest wall, the crack of bone against stone echoing through the room. Pain shot up my wrist, but it was nothing compared to the fire in my chest.
She should've been mine.
I had almost grabbed her, I was so close to reclaiming what's mine again but that bastard had to show up like a damn hero, with all those injuries.
"How the hell did she escape?" I growled, pacing the floor of the war room. "We had the damn sedatives. The tunnels were secured. We were ready."
