Chapter 36
Simon's POV
The moment Emma's voice echoed through my mindlink, fractured and frantic, my blood ran cold.
Simon. Aisha's gone. Jack has her.
A growl escaped my chest before I even realized it. Alric stiffened at my reaction. He didn't need to ask. My entire body screamed rage.
"She's been taken," I told him through gritted teeth.
He didn't speak, he didn't need to. The fury that lit up his eyes mirrored my own. My wolf was always in par with my emotions.
Immediately, I reached out to the warriors stationed at the hospital perimeter. Silence.
No response.
I pushed harder, extending my link, feeling for even a flicker of consciousness from the patrol. Nothing. It was as if they'd been swallowed by the earth.
"What the hell is going on?" Alric growled, pacing inside me.
"There should have been warriors on duty. Always. He knew that." I clenched my jaw, my fists shaking. "Jack planned this. He didn't just stumble into our territory—he was let in. Someone helped him."
"Traitor?" Alric asked
